Cartoon Violence is on hiatus this week, which is a damn shame considering this:
Cartoonist claiming to be armed empties El Nuevo Herald newsroomMiami police evacuated the The Miami Herald building this morning after a man claiming to be armed walked into the sixth-floor El Nuevo Herald newsroom and barricaded himself in the top editor’s office, police said.
Employees identified the man as El Nuevo Herald cartoonist Jose Varela.
He phoned his lawyer a couple times, sounded “distraught,” and announced his intention to take over the newspaper.
We hope this is the start of a trend, and expect to see Tom Toles firing warning shots out of Downie’s office window by the end of the year.
