Oh Look, a Web Page
There's a whole lot of referencing of other websites referencing other websites and we still don't have the allegedly gruesome details, so for now you can enjoy this press release from Weller's house.gov site. Congressional pages, Dennis Hastert, Jerry Weller ... what more do you want in a government web page?
But Jerry Weller losing his seat in the House is really the least of his worries right now. We'll explain, after the jump.
Weller's wife isn't only the daughter of right-wing Latin American butcher and dictator Efraín Ríos Montt.
In fact, she's a leading right-wing politician in Guatemala herself, today.
Zury Mayté Ríos Montt Sosa de Weller is currently serving her third term in congress (Guatemala's congress, that is) and is a leader (or the leader) of the Guatemalan Republican Front.
That's the party created for her murdering bastard of a father, General Efraín. But the now-democratic country passed a pesky law prohibiting mass murderers and coup leaders from running for president. Papa Efraín responded to this in 2003 by bussing in thousands of his masked thugs to Guatemala City and setting them loose on the public. The riots are remembered as Jueves Negro , or Black Thursday.
But his recent crimes of starting riots and threatening journalists and rival politicians looks positively innocent compared to his reign of terror in the 1980s, when he led the genocide of poor Mayans.
Even the U.S. State Department admits he killed tens of thousands of people. With Washington bullets, for the most part.
Montt was trained by the Pentagon and CIA in the 1950s, took part in the 1954 CIA coup against democratically-elected Guatemalan President Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, ran the army for Washington and the United Fruit Company in the 1970s, joined a loony evangelical church in California and began his long friendship with dictator-loving goons Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell in 1978, led another coup with the CIA in 1982 against newly elected president
