In the most exciting political debate since Abe Lincoln vs. That Other Guy, this morning Rick Santorum debated some hapless Green who won’t even be running for senator.The thrilling background: Santorum’s about to get whipped, so his campaign found a patsy to be the “Green Party candidate” in hopes that the “Green” would take enough votes away from Democrat Bob Casey to ruin Casey’s 10-point lead.

But Carl Romanelli didn’t get the required 67,000 signatures to win a spot on the ballot, and before this morning’s debate he was tossed out of the race. Says the Santorum campaign: “However, it is also true that Carl Romanelli still has a case before the Pa Supreme Court.” Whatever!
