Teleprompters strike back at DNC

by Wonkette Jr.  5:46 pm July 26, 2004

teleprompterexample.jpgTo our great surprise, someone is actually watching the proceedings of the Democratic National Convention. Blogger Brendan Loy reports that California Congresswoman Hilda Solis was befuddled upon speaking the following line:

“We need…leaders who are strong enough to take special interests and challenge the American people”

Four years ago, when the Republicans met in Philadelphia, confetti fell on the teleprompter during Laura Bush’s speech, leading event organizers to put up a big-screen teleprompter on the backside of the Convention floor. Of course, when Governor Bush gave his acceptance speech three days later, this meant everyone in the building could read his speech, including a line about ending “NEW-KLEE-ERR proliferation.”
