PLAMGEGATE: COUNTDOWN TO PARDONS
Karl Rove: Still maybe indicted. But maybe not. Hey, maybe we'll find outthisFriday afternoon. Or the following Friday afternoon. In any event: totally a done deal. Secret sources, etc. But maybe not.
Scooter Libby: As usual, screwed. By the CIA, according to the New YorkDaily News. Two agents say they told Scooter who Valerie Plame was, which doesn't quite mesh with Scooter's "Tim Russert, the bastard, told me everything" defense from back in the day when he still thought he could count on help from Team Bush.
And speaking of Rove, Truthout, having posted a non-retraction of their Rove story, now insists with even more certainty that "three independent sources" who are "in a position to know what they were talking about" confirmed that "attorneys for Karl Rove were handed an indictment either late in the night of May 12 or early in the morning of May 13." Once again, it all soundsjust plausible enough, and they're smart enough not to include a time-frame for announcements or anything, so we've decided we're just going to believe it, because why the hell not. This week, Wonkette is all about credulity.
We're ready to eat crow, but every time we try we just get a 404 .
