While We Were Liveblogging: The Specter/Feingold Fight
Can't you two see you're in love?
Dammit, there isnojuicy stuff going on at the Hayden hearing and meanwhile, the rest of the Senate is getting all catty about gay marriage in the next room. We are so pissed at ourselves for missing Russ Feingold and Arlen Specter (the original Odd Couple) yell at each other. Specter, who is an ass, is voting to send the gay marriage bill to the rest of the Senate, despite his adamant opposition to it and his knowledge that it doesn't stand a chance. Russ, who got a funny little idea in his head that he stands a chance in hell of being president, naturally decided to storm out like a drama queen.
"I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, shouted after Sen. Russ Feingold declared his opposition to the amendment, his affinity for the Constitution and his intention to leave the meeting.
Can't argue with that, Arlen. Russ' response: "I've enjoyed your lecture too, Mr. Chairman. See ya."
Ha! See ya! Bitch-y!
Oh well. We're buckling down for the rest of the Hayden hearing. Maybe Russ will show up and say something even slightly interesting.
