Congressional Catfight: What the Fuck Is Going On?
This is really, really weird -- highly irregular, one might say. We honestly have no clue as to how this happened.
This morning, we posted the results of our latest Congressional Catfight, between Katherine Harris and Barney Frank. We declared Frank the winner, with 1,415 votes to Harris's 1,414 votes. Those of you who read our original post saw a graphic reflecting such a result.
Between our original post and the current time, something strange happened. We didn't notice this until some of you commenters pointed it out to us. But after we posted the results, an extra "mystery vote" was somehow added to Katherine Harris's total, creating a tie.
Before you accuse Katy of stealing another election, hold your horses. Shortly after Harris's mystery vote materialized, another extra vote got added to Frank's tally. Bizarre.
WTF? Is Movable Type's polling software the online equivalent of a Diebold voting machine?
This is all too weird. Given the closeness of the vote, the polling irregularities, and the importance of the prize at stake -- a chance to compete in the finals of Congressional Catfight -- we've decided to hold a tiebreaker. We will put before you not one but two polls, which will stay open until tomorrow at 11: 30 AM Eastern time. The competitor with the highestcombinednumber of votes in the two polls will face Nancy Pelosi in the final round.
So once more, with feeling:
Vote away! Let's hope for a clearer outcome this time around.
