How Not To Advertise for a New FEMA Chief
This news wasn't exactly a surprise to us:
The post of FEMA director is something of a thankless task -- just ask Michael Brown. Something is bound to go wrong when the federal government tries to respond to a major disaster; there's a reason they call it the federal government. And when things do go wrong, you're the one who sucks it up.
So we understand why DHS has been having a hard time filling the FEMA post, with numerous disaster response experts withdrawing their names from contention. But part of the blame rests with the DHS's lackluster recruiting effort. A single Craiglist ad is not enough:
You can find almost almost anything on Craigslist -- but probably not a new FEMA director.
(Also, the ad fails to mention: " Rapping experience is a plus.")
