Maybe Hillary Was Right After All

Perhaps there are similarities between Capitol Hill and a plantation. But it’s not the members who are engaged in involuntary labor — it’s their staffs!

“I’ve always to work on the Hill — but this isn’t what I had in mind!”

This morning The Hill reports about two former aides to Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) who are accusing Conyers of violating House ethics rules by forcing staff members to perform personal errands during normal working hours. The staffers, Deanna Maher and Sydney Rooks, claim that they and other staff members were forced to babysit, chauffeur, and tutor Conyers’s kids, among other things. The Hill adds:

A former staffer who has worked for two House Democrats said,

Hola wonkerados.
