Finding yourself inconvenienced by wrathful acts of God, the federal government and poverty? What you need is a nice, warm Uzi. And what luck! House Republicans have just approved a bill which limits The Man’s right to sue honest, hard-working gun manufacturers. Hey, they’re your last line of defense between death by drowning, and death by hollow point-induced hemorraghing.

“What we’ve seen in Louisiana – the breakdown of law and order in the aftermath of disaster – is exactly the kind of situation where the Second Amendment was intended to allow citizens to protect themselves,” Wayne LaPierre, the association’s executive vice president, said in a recent statement on the organization’s Web site.

Why did the levees break? Because the water was unafraid. Well, no more. From our cold, dead — and hopefully buoyant — hands.
