racist? the fuck you say!

Hey, Shitholers! How it do? Good God, the fallout from #ShitHoleGhaziGate continues, and wouldn’t you know it, but NBC News uncovered more evidence that perhaps Donald Trump might be racist.

Consider this anecdote:

A career intelligence analyst who is an expert in hostage policy stood before President Donald Trump in the Oval Office last fall to brief him on the impending release of a family long held in Pakistan under uncertain circumstances.

It was her first time meeting the president, and when she was done briefing, he had a question for her.

“Where are you from?” the president asked, according to two officials with direct knowledge of the exchange.

New York, she replied.

Trump was unsatisfied and asked again, the officials said. Referring to the president’s hometown, she offered that she, too, was from Manhattan. But that’s not what the president was after.

He wanted to know where “your people” are from, according to the officials, who spoke off the record due to the nature of the internal discussions.

After the analyst revealed that her parents are Korean, Trump turned to an adviser in the room and seemed to suggest her ethnicity should determine her career path, asking why the “pretty Korean lady” isn’t negotiating with North Korea on his administration’s behalf, the officials said.

Oh boy! Bet she’s heard that one before! (From racist white people.)

Anything else?

At a March meeting with members of the Congressional Black Caucus, Trump asked the elected officials if they knew just one member of his incoming cabinet — Ben Carson — according to two people in the room.

Carson, the only black member of Trump’s Cabinet, had never served in Congress and spent his career as a surgeon. None of the lawmakers knew Carson, and Trump found that surprising, the attendees said.

Why that is stunning, Mr. President, that a whole group of black people had in fact never met your black friend! Did they not know Omarosa either?

One more?

During that same meeting, a member relayed to Trump that potential welfare cuts would harm her constituents, “not all of whom are black.” The president replied, “Really? Then what are they?”

Oh my fucking God.

And here we were thinking calling Haiti and all the countries of Africa “shitholes” was the first time Trump was revealed as a racist.

Except …

Well there was the time Trump called Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” in front of Navajo code talkers and the time he said there were really good people on the Nazi White Supremacist side in Charlottesville and the OTHER time he talked shit about Haiti and said they all had AIDS and the OTHER time he talked shit about Africa and said they all live in huts and the time he called Puerto Ricans losers who wanted handouts just because they got hit by a hurricane and the time he called black football players kneeling to protest racial inequality and police brutality “sons of bitches” and the time he started his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists and the time he took a shit all over a Gold Star family because they were Muslim and the time he called a the widow of a fallen soldier and her congresswoman liars because they’re black and the time he said a judge couldn’t rule on him fairly because he had Mexican heritage and the time Trump and his KKK rally-attending dad were sued for racial discrimination because they wouldn’t rent to blacks and the time he started his entire political movement by launching a campaign to prove America’s first black president, a greater man than Trump in each and every way, was not a real American, something he apparently still believes!

Are we missing anything? Haha, we are only scratching the surface — didn’t even mention all his racist campaign rallies! — and this is only the shit we know and not whatever he whispers into the sycophantic buttholes of Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue (who cannot “recall” whether Trump went on a racist shithole tirade during their private Thursday meeting, when even Lindsey Graham has been peer-pressured into confessing by his fellow South Carolina senator Tim Scott) and whatever other bigots he happens to be surrounding himself with that day.

It truly is a whole new world, grappling with the new information that Donald Trump is a racist. Just like it was a whole new world last week, after Michael Wolff’s book o’ lies came out, coming to terms with the idea that the president might have just the tiniest spot of dementia.

Yeah.

Breaking news.

Who’da thunk it?

Much shocking.

Many wow.

Ain’t nothing that man-child says or does can blow my mind any longer. I read this bit from Vanity Fair today, since I’m not planning on reading the Wolff book. “On the eve of the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump was already looking ahead to the publicity opportunities that would come in the weeks and months following his inevitable loss to Hillary Clinton. “This is bigger than I ever dreamed of,” Trump told his longtime friend Roger Ailes. Then, of course, they actually won, shocking not only the nation but their own campaign, and catapulting a man into the White House whom many of his own staffers saw as unfit.”—–“Those close to the president knew going in that he was startlingly ignorant, but dismissed that fact as irrelevant—after all, he would never be president.”

A lawyer for President Donald Trump arranged a $130,000 payment to a former adult-film star a month before the 2016 election as part of an agreement that precluded her from publicly discussing an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the matter.

Michael Cohen, who spent nearly a decade as a top attorney at the Trump Organization, arranged payment to the woman, Stephanie Clifford, in October 2016 after her lawyer negotiated the nondisclosure agreement with Mr. Cohen, these people said.

Ms. Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, has privately alleged the encounter with Mr. Trump took place after they met at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, these people said. Mr. Trump married Melania Trump in 2005.

Mr. Trump faced other allegations during his campaign of inappropriate behavior with women, and vehemently denied them. In this matter, there is no allegation of a nonconsensual interaction.

“These are old, recycled reports, which were published and strongly denied prior to the election,” a White House official said, responding to the allegation of a sexual encounter involving Mr. Trump and Ms. Clifford. The official declined to respond to questions about an agreement with Ms. Clifford. It isn’t known whether Mr. Trump was aware of any agreement or payment involving her.

In a statement, Mr. Cohen didn’t address the $130,000 payment but said of the alleged sexual encounter that “President Trump once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels.”

Mr. Cohen added in the statement, addressed to The Wall Street Journal: “This is now the second time that you are raising outlandish allegations against my client. You have attempted to perpetuate this false narrative for over a year; a narrative that has been consistently denied by all parties since at least 2011.”

The Journal previously reported that Ms. Clifford, 38 years old, had been in talks with ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the fall of 2016 about an appearance to discuss Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the matter. In that article, the Journal reported the company that owns the National Enquirer agreed to pay $150,000 to a former Playboy centerfold model three months before the election for her story of an affair a decade earlier with the Republican presidential nominee, which the tabloid newspaper didn’t publish. The company said she was paid to write fitness columns and appear on magazine covers.

Mr. Cohen also sent a two-paragraph statement by email addressed “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN” and signed by “Stormy Daniels” denying that she had a “sexual and/or romantic affair” with Mr. Trump.

“Rumors that I have received hush money from Donald Trump are completely false,” the statement said.

Ms. Clifford didn’t respond to multiple emails seeking comment.

After the agreement, Ms. Clifford’s camp complained the payment wasn’t being made quickly enough and threatened to cancel the deal, some of the people familiar with the matter said.

The payment was made to Ms. Clifford through her lawyer in the matter, Keith Davidson, with funds sent to Mr. Davidson’s client-trust account at City National Bank in Los Angeles, according to the people.

“I previously represented Ms. Daniels,” Mr. Davidson said, referring to Ms. Clifford’s stage name. “Attorney-client privilege prohibits me from commenting on my clients’ legal matters.”

A spokeswoman for City National Bank declined to comment.

The agreement with Ms. Clifford came as the Trump campaign confronted allegations from numerous women who described unwanted sexual advances and alleged assaults by Mr. Trump.

In October 2016, the Washington Post published a videotape made, but never aired, by NBC’s “Access Hollywood” in which Mr. Trump spoke of groping women.

Mr. Trump denied all allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct and apologized at the time for his remarks on the tape, calling them locker-room banter.

Mr. Cohen worked at the Trump Organization from 2007 until after the election. As Mr. Trump took office, Mr. Cohen said he would work in private practice and act as Mr. Trump’s personal attorney. “I am the fix-it guy,” he said in an interview in January 2017 before Mr. Trump’s inauguration.

Ms. Clifford has appeared in about 150 adult films, and was considered among the industry’s biggest stars when the then-27-year-old met Mr. Trump at the American Century Championship in 2006, held at Edgewood Tahoe golf course in Nevada.

Another adult-film star, Jessica Drake, later alleged in an October 2016 news conference that Mr. Trump kissed her and two other women without permission in a hotel suite after the same 2006 golf event.

“I did not sign [a nondisclosure agreement], nor have I received any money for coming forward,” Ms. Drake said this week in an emailed statement. “I spoke out because it was the right thing to do.”

A White House official responded to questions about Ms. Drake by referring to a previous statement by the Trump campaign, which called her account “totally false and ridiculous.”

Remember, while racism is terrible the one thing definitely worse is being called a racist.
If you will insist on considering his behaviour as a whole, he’s going to look racist. That’s why liberals do it- they unfairly want to lay judgements on him based on his actions. In reality, if you consider each instance in total isolation it’s clear every single time has a decent, non-racist and sometimes plausible excuse. This is why the party of personal responsibility advocates this approach.

    • Rebel Scum with permit

Also, they are not racists because the things they tell you about other races are true, but you just don’t want to admit them because you are just a wimpy liberal hypocrite who can’t face the truth.
It doesn’t matter that they can’t produce any actual legitimate research to back up the things they know to be true. And if you try to produce any, you’ve been brainwashed by the liberal establishment.

      • Daniel

And you’re denying what they say is true because of Political Correctness, which is a way of not saying things that are true because they hurt people’s feelings. • shivaskeeper

It’s educational watching major media outlets have to pretend they didn’t know exactly what Trump was before yesterday.

Educational in the sense that if I was unsure how to approach telling other people that someone was a raging, racist, misogynistic, short finger vulgarian asshole, I would only have to look at how most of the media outlets reported on Trump and then do anything but that.

Most of them are seriously lacking in being able to sell the surprise. That it is feigned surprise is glaringly obvious. Although seeing some of them obviously bucking what I assume is the official corporate policy on Trump is always good.

    Edit: For clarity.

    • BadKitty904

If any media outlet in the U.S. simply reported what Trump says and does – minus spin, gloss, etc, punditry, etc. – there’d be riots in the streets.

      • shivaskeeper

To be fair, some of them have been. Not the outlets as a whole, but people like Maddow, Reid, Acosta, and O’Donnell have been doing that from the beginning. There have been a few others that have come on board since the election, but for the most part the network policies seem to be, “He’s new to this, give him a chance. Besides… both sides”.

        • BadKitty904

True. But not enough of them and not consistently enough.

In related news, Lucy Liu will not be accepting Trump’s nomination as ambassador to South Korea.

  • WiscoJoe

Trump’s a racist? C’mon, next you’re going to tell me he has a history of sleeping with porn stars and then paying them to keep quiet.

    • BadKitty904
      • WiscoJoe

We’ve been over this already. Trump had unprotected sex with thousands of women in the 70s and 80s but never once caught an STI, which practically makes him an honorary Vietnam Vet. (Also, all those coerced abortions didn’t pay for themselves… and that’s not even including the hush money!)

        • BadKitty904

And the obvious, ongoing symptoms of syphilis-related dementia…?

          • WiscoJoe

Syphillis is just one more thing Trump has in common with our founding fathers and King David and probably Winston Churchill. His base loves him for it! You libtards get so triggered over a debilitating, brain-rotting sexually transmitted disease.

          • Celtic_Gnome

Counting back from today, how long do you think it’s been since he’s seen a doctor?

          • BadKitty904

He’s “seen” doctors. The questions are “When was the last time he had an actual, thorough physical exam?” and “Will America ever see the actual results of said exam?

        • Amazing Professional Lunatic

Thousands? Thousands of women consented to getting boffed by The Donald? I am skeptical. Maybe he counts jacking off to porn as having sex with women.

      • data_ninja

Wouldn’t a blood test be part of his annual physical? Wouldn’t this show up, among other things?

        • BadKitty904

For all we know, it has.

          • Celtic_Gnome

The White House released a statement after the physical greatly reminiscent of Dr. Feelgood’s campaign letter. Dr. Ronnie Jackson was listed as the author of that statement. No word on what Dr. Ronny Jackson, who performed the exam, thought of it.

          • BadKitty904

It’s worth the paper it’s written on, at most. Does anyone think they’re really going to release a report stating the obvious – “DJT is an obese, demented pervert who is utterly incapable of performing the duties of his office“?

    • C4TWOMAN

Nothing against sex workers, but the porn industry is a hellhole. Until it’s unionized and controlled by sex workers, I would avoid sexual contact with people working in it.
Ironically, actual prostitutes are probably healthier.

      • WiscoJoe

Also, ironically, actual sex workers are also healthier than the President. And at least when they screw you, they’re focused on making it feel good.

I didn’t get all the way through that link – but the cite from Paul Ryan made me stop and rant ( since we don’t comment here ).

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, for example, gave a speech at the Kenosha County Fair yesterday afternoon, in which he emphasized that he had “always been a vocal critic of former President Trump’s rhetoric.” …

Why do we allow our politicians to make a distinction between “rhetoric” and actual policies/actions? I admit that Rump talks bigger than he’s actually able to do ( his rhetoric often gets in the way of the legislative process, especially, since he IS NOT a legislator ). But when even actual legislators are allowed to make a distinction between what one says he gonna do, and what he actually does – we have a BIG problem.

My only hope for the “future”, as you put it, is that most of the assholes who are currently in there, shaping our future, will NOT be in there following the 2018 elections.

You just know that most of the tech-illiterate amongst Trumps’s supporters are saying, “So what?”, none of them realize that we really didn’t hear of such fuck-ups from the Obama WH….

Of course, they would all dismiss such evidence of tech superiority as just the “false media” refusing to report the Obama team’s fuckups.

It all comes down to, Rump supporters are so stupid that evidence of stupidity amongst Rump and/or his staff, is dismissed as evidence that the mainstream media hates him. They never examine whether or not something is “true” – of they hear it from anything other than their cherished “rightwing media”, it’s obviously false…

      Not – “…I’m not a good person”.

  • miss_grundy

The next time the racist shitmouth wonders about the racial demographics of welfare recipients, someone should point out the following:

According to 2013 data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which administers the program, 40.2 percent of SNAP recipients are white, 25.7 percent are black, 10.3 percent are Hispanic, 2.1 percent are Asian and 1.2 percent are Native American.

Not that he is a fan of facts.

    • bupkus231

Be sure that some Trumpanista will point out that, while 25.7% of blacks are recipients, they “only” comprise 12% of the US population – and use this as evidence that they’re “cheating”, not that they’ve been so systematically discriminated against that their poverty level is twice that the overall population.

There are just too many ( white ) people who have no understanding of statistics, let alone actual “human feeling” for anyone they’ve identified as “the other”.

    • bupkus231

There’s little doubt in my mind that Rump accepted “purchase agreements” from all sorts of assholes looking to launder their money, without being aware of the circumstances/origin of the funds intended to pay for them.

He;s never felt he’s had a “fiduciary” duty – to himself, let alone any “investors” he may had rooked. All he’s ever seen is that, whatever inflated price he’s asked, someone’s always been willing to pay ( the fact that some sources have wanted to pay much more than any objective valuation of a property has warranted, was evidence, not of attempting to launder the money, but of his own “worth” ).

The fucker may have been a money launderer – but out of narcisstic ignorance, not evil intent. Expect this to form the basis of any :defense”, should he ever be called up on charges…

      • mike stone

Definitely, have you ever met anyone who bought, or even desired, to own a Trump property? The whole enterprise is a money laundering setup. I hope Mueller nails him, his family, his associates, to the wall on every single one of these.

Last night, I had an anxiety dream in which the steering wheel of the car I was driving blew up in my hands. A toll booth attendant suddenly appeared and said, “Oh, man, I’ve never seen one do that before.” The side of my car then fell off. My husband appeared in the passenger seat, and said in his chipper, thrifty way that makes me want to smack him, waking or sleeping, “If you can just figure out how to get it home, I’ve got some tape that should do the trick.” “No new car?” I exclaimed, horrified. “I have to tape it back together?”

The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Cohen, an attorney for the Trump Organization at the time and now Trump’s personal lawyer, arranged for Stephanie Clifford, known in the industry as Stormy Daniels, to receive $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement one month before the 2016 presidential election.

      HAH!

      • jesuswasablack

Joy the only one worth watching on the whole network, the rest are left-wing Hannity’s!

        • Joy Anne’s work is top tier by any standard. She’s brilliant, quick thinking, insightful, informed, and don’t take no shit. Rachel Maddow’s show is tremendous for her background preparation in looking beyond the surface of stories and pointing out the often difficult to see or understand interconnectedness of most of the things that are wrong in politics.

          • jesuswasablack

I can’t take more than a few minutes of Rachel, she keeps repeating herself, it’s like 5th grade book report stuff, she’s good at turning 15 minutes of material into an hour long show. I used to enjoy Lawrence though lately he keeps pretending he was a senator, that sort of bothers me, that and the mandatory Maddow ass-kissing he does for the first couple minutes of his show, I don’t like that either though I do still watch his show often?

        • Are they biased? Sure. Do they make shit up like Hannity does and/or support racist, bigoted, policies? Not that I’m aware of.

          • jesuswasablack

I meant most of them are self centered narcissists with an over-inflated sense of self, it seems to happen to some folks when they get a cable bobble-head gig?

I have it buffering. (My town has a choice of DSL or DSL — #ThanksIdjitPie) I can only imagine what a far lesser “leader” would do. Canada has those “media scrums” too; Trudeau doesn’t have a Surrah Huckleberry acting as go-between, and the Canadian press really is vicious toward him in a way Surrah only thinks our corporate milquetoast press corps is here. But he still goes out there and answers questions on his own, because that’s what he’s expected to do. You know, his job.

I wish we had Question Period also too. Donnie needs to stand before the House of Commons (Representatives) and get grilled by the Official Opposition, who in this case is the Democrats. These orchestrated, partisan sycophancy arrangements are like something out of… well, Russia…

    • shivaskeeper

Not before the midterms. This was a given. They might do it in late 2018/early 2019 if they retain the majority. That’ll give it a year for the memories to fade before the 2020 cycle.

It’ll be a delicate act for him though. 2019 is when the tax fuckery starts in earnest so the fiscal conservatives might notice a hole the tax bill is blowing in the budget.

      • bupkus231

That hole will be their “justification” for pursuing Medicaid reform.

Which is yet another reason why we need to blow away both Republican majorities in 2018. Fuckin’ turn ’em out in to the wilderness….

        • shivaskeeper

That hole being filled by Medicade and Social Security “reform” was always part of the plan.

If they maintain the majority or get it back at anytime that the tax law is still the law, they will go after the safety net. They will have to do it in an off election year though. They have to rely on the voters short term memory failing once again.

          • Old town Urbandale

Who needs to tackle Medicaid reform when you can just have the CMS fuck around with stuff like allowing the states to institute work requirements and other fuckery instead?

          • shivaskeeper

They still have to take the money away from the states to fill the budget hole.

Just where are our highly principled evangelical leaders in all this? No, not the two Corinthians of recent Trump lore. The people who should have mentioned to Fearless Leader that plenty of Christians have entered this country from those same shit holes.
They might even have mentioned that the Apostle Paul, who traveled to plenty of shit holes in his time, was quite clear about “tagless” Christians.
My Sunday School memories have certainly dimmed, but I do recall a passage by Paul insisting that among believers there are no differences between” Jew and Greek, slave and free, man and woman…”
So, a Christian is a Christian, no matter if he lives in Hamburg or Port au Prince, Oslo or Timbuktu.
And unless we’re returning to those happy years when Christians could become better Christians simply by donating more to church fathers to relieve their sins, there’s no income requirement either.

But doesn’t it seem like Pence would be a better choice for the evangelicals? Why aren’t they throwing trump aside to get to their crazy-for-jesus equal?

          • handyhippie65

because they are racists at heart, and trump plays on that in a way we have not seen in a long time. as long as he seems to be protecting them from the scary brown and black people, they will cheer for him, even as the country crumbles around them. i live in indiana, i hear it from the people around me every day. fear is a powerful tool, and the republicans have learned to wield it very efficiently. we are no longer the land of the free, and the home of the brave. our freedoms are evaporating like a puddle in the sun, and everyone seems afraid of everything.

          • Jet Maier

Police transcripts of a secretly wired conversation between one of Donald Trump’s top Atlantic City executives and Robert Libutti, a deceased mob figure with ties to John Gotti, purport that the presidential candidate had “very close” ties to the criminal despite previous public denials of their relationship.

Libutti, a nationally famous horse breeder with a known temper, gambled millions of dollars at Trump’s casinos throughout the ’80s and early ’90s. In 1991, Trump’s ties to Libutti came under investigation when nine employees of the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City alleged that the casino violated anti-discrimination at Libutti’s request. The investigation found that Libutti had used racist and misogynist language to complain about the presence of blacks and women working his tables. Instead of removing him from the premises, the casino obliged his demands to make sure there were no “women, blacks or other minorities dealing or supervising his games.” As per Yahoo News:

[Libutti] referred to one Trump Plaza floor person as a “dumb c***” and “dumb bitch,” another as a “Jew broad” and an African-American dealer as a “black bastard.” Finding himself playing with an African-American at his craps table, LiButti shouted, “Shoot the f***ing dice. Shoot the f***ing dice like you’re f***ing some n*****,” according to testimony in the case.

Trump ended up being fined $200,000 for violating anti-discrimination laws over the probe. He denied any personal connection with Libutti though, telling the Philadelphia Inquirer at the time, “I have heard he is a high roller, but if he was standing here in front of me, I wouldn’t know what he looked like.”

However, a wire-tapped conversation between Libutti and Edward M. Tracy, a Trump CEO, suggests otherwise. New Jersey State Police secretly wired Tracy upon learning that the horse breeder had secured a lucrative deal for his brother-in-law, Jimmy Roselli, to sing at Trump Plaza. In the conversation, Libutti said he was “very close” with Trump, having flown with the real estate mogul in his helicopter. He also mentioned that Trump personally gave him $350,000 after a bad night at one of his casinos to keep the high stakes roller visiting and gambling.

In the tape, Libutti repeatedly referenced his connections to mob boss John Gotti in an effort to pressure Tracy into paying Roselli an additional $250,000 for his singing services. Calling the threats “chilling,” the state assistant attorney general motioned to bar Libutti from New Jersey casinos.

In the tape, Libutti repeatedly referenced his connections to mob boss John Gotti in an effort to pressure Tracy into paying Roselli an additional $250,000 for his singing services. Calling the threats “chilling,” the state assistant attorney general motioned to bar Libutti from New Jersey casinos because of his ties to Gotti. In addition to the $200,000 the Casino Control Commission had already fined Trump in the anti-discrimination probe, the CCC fined $450,000 Trump Plaza “for buying LiButti nine luxury autos, including Ferraris, Bentleys and Rolls-Royces worth $1.6 million, that he then exchanged for cash, a violation of state laws at the time that barred cash comps for high rollers.” In addition, Yahoo News reports:

Documents from the case show that the Trump Plaza also provided LiButti with other “comps” that included paying $104,338 for five European vacations and one to California; $279,978 for tickets to the Super Bowl, boxing matches and other sporting and theater events; $121,712 for jewelry; and $40,020 for Champagne that included 178 bottles of Cristal Rosé, valued at $225 a bottle.

Last May, Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney hosted a call that quickly devolved into a scene out of an episode of the HBO series “Veep,” in which crying babies, hacking coughs, and the tune of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” were heard on the line.

“This is going to be a disaster,” Mulvaney stated before opening the floor for questions to over sixty reporters who had dialed into the conference call.

What about the time he talked about having black accountants in his accounting office at Trump Castle and Plaza. He said (allegedly)

“And isn’t it funny, I’ve got black accountants at the Trump Castle
and at Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only
kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear
yarmulkes every day. Those are the kind of people I want counting my
    money. No one else.”

I couldn’t believe I was hearing this. But
Donald went on, “Besides that, I’ve got to tell you something else. I
think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because
laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that”

  • Nuke Nerd

Here’s where I don’t get why people say you shouldn’t assume all of his supporters racists. Why not? They are. Pretty much everyone with a pulse knows he’s not just racist but an actual white supremacist, and so did the people who supported him. If they aren’t actual racist then they’re “comfortable” with it which is the same thing. Trump will go away but the racist Trumptards he activated will be with us for many years to come and we’re not going to get anywhere candy coating it. #fuckem

So many of the people I have met who are racists are that way because they have a hard time reading books. They have no knowledge of history and very few friends. And very, very stupid. Think the world revolves around them. Like tRump. And religion just stokes the fire.

    • ExecutorElassus

I wouldn’t say that. 25% of Americans supported Nixon the day he left office. That’s the portion that is unsalvageable, and we can only hope that their kids will be taught better.
But That Asshole’s current support is in the low 30s. The difference is a lot of people who voted for Obama. They were duped (which is their own stupidity, but I’m a forgiving sort).
Getting That Asshole impeached is the top priority right now, and that won’t happen without Dems recapturing Congress. To do that, you need to reach those voters, and you’ll never do it if you loop them in with the racist assholes.

      • handyhippie65

when you lay it all out there like that, i have to wonder, can we ever change anything here? i am seriously beginning to lose hope.

        • Nenatopia

Yes, we absolutely can. With Votes. More eligible voters sat it out last time than cast ballots for either HRC or Cheeto Benito.

The right wins so much because their voters (older white people) show up. Reliably, every election. If more eligible voters start showing up reliably, every election, our govt will start looking more like the country, and start paying more attention to voters and less to donors.

          • handyhippie65

first the democrats have to run candidates that progressives are willing to vote for. that’s why trump won. not enough us were willing to vote for clinton. i did, but i know others who were not willing to do so. in indiana, there are few enough liberals as it is. if there are not clear, and substantive differences between the choices we have, some will wonder why even take the time to vote at all. i’m 52, and have voted in every election i was eligible to. my first vote was against reagan. but even i am getting tired of having no one to vote for, only those to vote against. if the only difference between the candidates is degree, what’s the use? conservative lite, is still conservative. i personally, will never again vote for any pro corporate candidate. if you want my vote, you must support stronger unions, a stronger safety net, stronger regulations, an end to free trade agreements and offshoring and be willing to stand up to corporations, rather than lying down for them, as so many corporate democrats seem willing to do. basically, if your not a strong progressive, i will not vote for you. period. no more will i vote for you simply because you are not a republican. and obviously, i am not alone in this notion. and unless the democrats are willing to give us something to vote for, they will continue to lose. something which i believe they are paid to do. why else are they not only unwilling to support progressive policies, but actively oppose them?

There’s a theory going around Russian Conspiracy Twitter right now that a lot of people in Congress, on both sides, are being blackmailed either by the Russians or some part of the Breitbart/GOP “movement.”
This is the proposed reason why, for example, Lindsey Graham went from a never-Trumper during the election to a spineless apologist: somebody is threatening to out him and his long-standing relationship with a man (they’ve been discreetly sharing an apartment for decades) unless he falls in line.
That’s the scary scenario: not that That Asshole is an agent of the Russians, but that a significant portion of the US political leadership has been compromised as well.

      • Lordpnut

It’s the only thing that makes sense, really. The Russians seem to be running a looong con and those arrogant, corrupt assholes would be easy pickins.
And you know they must be consumed with shame and resentment at the way he rolled up their whole party and smoked it like a skinny spliff.
If that is the case, I think their choice of targets speaks volumes:
You can’t blackmail someone with nothing to hide.
Highly intelligent people will figure out the scam sooner or later.
Highly ethical people make personal sacrifices for the greater good.
Hubris and vanity make people easier to manipulate.

        • ExecutorElassus

I almost pity Lindsey Graham. Honestly, I think if he just came out and admitted to being gay, hardly anybody would care. Hell, he could finally marry his partner, and I’d be happy for him. But I guess for people of his generation and culture, that’s still not something in the realm of possibility, and he probably still thinks that getting outed would end his career.
Then again, he’s avoiding that unlikely fate by colluding to protect the agent of a hostile foreign power in weakening his country, so I’m stuck at “almost.”

          • Lordpnut

I hear you, but the times they are a changin’. Miss Lindsay is missing his chance to be belle of the ball.
Someone should convince him that his legacy is to be footnoted by historians as minor figure in a failed coup – complicit but not driving the action. Oh and a homosexual to boot. UNLESS he went full on triple agent. He could be the man. The man for his time. Fits right in there. With devious intellect and dauntless courage he’d be immortalized for bringing the conspirators to their knees and tearing aside the paisley curtain, making it not only safe but even cool for older southern gentlemen to be gay. Yeah. Take a lesson from Rob Halford and come out BOLD. “The fuck, you say? I been here for thirty years! You don’t have the authoritah to revoke my credentials, Beeotch!”

          • Lordpnut

No shit. And then we can look forward to another hundred years butthurt over the ass-whipping brought on by their own treasonous bullshit to begin with.
