Myeshia Johnson, in case the president needs to be reminded of her name.

Did the weekend even just happen? Isn’t Monday the time when Donald Trump likes to debut the NEXT fake grievance he’s going to use to hold the American people hostage and distract them from his malignant, failing presidency? Apparently he’s still obsessed with last week’s fake grievance, because Myeshia Johnson, the surviving wife of fallen Army Sgt. La David Johnson, broke her silence on “Good Morning America” about the phone call she received from the president the day his body was flown back to America, and oh man, she is being so unfair and disrespectful, by saying his words on the phone call hurt her feelings. Is it even legal for her to say that about our American dictator? It’s just like that time Trump went to a Republican primary debate and Megyn Kelly pulled out her wherevers and bled all over him on live TV!

Let’s get Trump’s Twitter version of the events out of the way, so we can get back to focusing on reality ASAP:

Sure, you betcha. Donald Trump said Sgt. Johnson’s name SO MANY TIMES, just like he ALWAYS refers to Myeshia Johnson by her name, instead of just calling her “the widow.” It’s probably because he cares so much.

Except actually that’s bullshit. According to Johnson on “Good Morning America,” the most upsetting part of the phone call was that Trump not only didn’t say her husband’s name, he actually “stumbled” trying to remember it:

He couldn’t remember my husband’s name. The only way he remembered my husband’s name is because he told me he had my husband’s report in front of him. And that’s when he actually said “La David.” I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband’s name. And that’s what hurt me the most because if my husband is out here fighting for our country, and he risks his life for our country, why can’t you remember his name? And that’s what made me upset and cry even more.

Johnson also said she was hurt by Trump’s tone when he said he “knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway.” Why was “the widow” being so unfair to Trump on “Good Morning America” by saying how Trump’s words made her feel? Does she not know she’s talking about the nominal author of The Art Of The Deal?

Last week, when General John Kelly decided to fall on Donald Trump’s sword and fuck himself with it, he actually confirmed the account of Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, whose recollection of the call sounds exactly like Myeshia Johnson’s. The four-star general is apparently just appalled at Wilson for telling the truth and in the process making Dear Leader look bad. Remember also that Sgt. Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, also corroborated the account. It’s like LITERALLY EVERYBODY who heard the call agrees on what happened, even if Generalissimo Kelly is feeling a patriotic duty to be full of shit right now.

“Why would we fabricate something like that?” she said.

You should take time to watch the entire interview with Myeshia Johnson, as she talks about who her husband was, and the questions she has about what the hell actually happened in Niger, the ones the government still won’t answer. “Why [did it take] 48 hours to find my husband? Why couldn’t I see my husband?”

At the end of the interview, George Snuffleupagus asked Johnson if she had any words for the president, and this was her response:

“I don’t have nothin’ to say to him.”

Perhaps America should follow Myeshia Johnson’s lead.

They are ridiculing not only the congresswoman but they are sinking to the level (surprise) of ridiculing the names of the fallen soldier and the intelligence and personal appearance of his wife Mysheia. One also has to wonder why it took from 10/7 (day he arrived at Dover) until last week to bring him to Florida. Ironically, I believe the main reason the congresswoman was talking to the press in the beginning was about the family concern about those questions – and someone asked her about the phone call, which had just happened. It’s not like she called a press conference to tell people Trump was an insensitive jerk.

    And this is really where that whole, “temperament,” thing comes in. We’ve ALL had someone take offense at something we’ve said that we didn’t think was offensive. All of us. Sane people apologize even if they think they were right and accept that someone was genuinely offended. Insane people double down on their bullshit and attack the victim.     But, to me, the most egregious part of the phone call was the fact that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did not know LaDavid’s name nor did he know the name of the person to whom he was speaking. We know this because when he was questioned about the phone call, he referred to Mrs. Johnson as “the woman….the wife…”

    Compare and contrast that to Obama’s eulogy given after the people were slain by Dylan Roof.

      This. I totally understand that expressing condolences is really fucking hard. That’s why I try to limit it to the generic statement or by signing a card (that someone else chose). And even then, not everybody responds well to generic statements (“This was God’s plan” — “Well, God had a shitty plan.”).

      At my aunt’s funeral last year, I saw my cousin greeting the guests graciously, trying to smile through her obvious pain. I had no idea “what” to say exactly, but I gave her the most heartfelt hung I have ever given anybody. And I am NOT a hugger by nature.

      But I can imagine that for someone who lost a loved one in unusual
      circumstances and probably still has questions that haven’t even been
      answered, trying to gloss over their death wouldn’t sit right. “Oh, he knew what he was getting into??? Well what EXACTLY was he getting into, Mr. President? We would like to know!”

        This is the deal. When you enlist in the armed forces and you consider the state of the world today, it has to be in the back of your mind the idea that you could be wounded in action or even killed. But that doesn’t mean that you say that to the grieving family member. It isn’t that hard to say that the man or woman was a good soldier and that you offer condolences to the family on behalf of a grateful nation. How hard can it be to even offer a generic condolence like that?

        Yes, it is insanely hard because you don’t know what to say and its awkward and you don’t want to put your foot in it. A big hug is great. (though to be hugged by Trump, can you imagine? I’d try, but its giving me dry heaves). All you have to say is “I’m so sorry.” That’s it. I had an awful loss once, years ago, and going back to work was an eye opener. I had people flee from me in the hallways (“I don’t know what to say to you”, from one co-worker). I had a friend call me and then just say “I don’t want to make you talk about it” and hang up, never to be heard from again. But I had people I barely knew come up, put a hand on my shoulder or give a hug, and just say “I’m really sorry”. It was so heartening. Even if you don’t know what to say, just saying you’re sorry lets a person know that you care.

    We’re long past the point where every conversation, every phone call, every twitter exchange with Trump, all of it in any form, should be recorded, screenshot, and otherwise preserved. The guy is a pathological liar, and even if he can’t manage to take responsibility for what he says, the rest of us deserve to know what goes down.

      1) Trump didn’t personally murder them, even if he’s being a dick about the whole thing, and since we tend to stick to facts, that dog won’t hunt, and
      2) we won’t waste the taxpayer’s dime on 17 redundant hearings.

      However, I do hope there’s a decent review of the incident, whether the public gets to see it or not. What a mess.

        But the thing is, this really IS a scandal, in which Trump really IS responsible for those men’s deaths. He put Chad on the “ban” list; Chad withdrew the troops that were aiding us; he allowed Blackwater mercenaries to do the evacuation; their evacuation policy isn’t mandated the way the U.S. Armed Forces is, so they LEFT Sgt. Johnson BEHIND, even though he was still alive, and had activated a distress signal. He was later ambushed and mutilated by attackers–BECAUSE TRUMP ALLOWED HIM TO BE LEFT BEHIND. And the whole operation to begin with is suspect, has to do with oil, and may be in support of a Russian military operation to begin with. It’s a terrible scandal. As opposed to Benghazi, which was none of these things. And yet, radio silence.

          At least there should be hearings to figure out this stuff. I have read about the mercenaries, and also conflicting accounts about the distress signal. You can see, even with what’s been put out there, why this particular widow would be more upset at the time of the face-saving phone call, since there seem to be so many more questions about her particular husband than the other 3. Not to mention she had just arrived at the airport to meet the body 10 days after it arrived in Dover.

            Thanks, but … whoa. I’m not sure of the details and I don’t want to get impulsive here. Was it really Blackwater? Going online and trying to check it out, I get the impression the private company involved in the medical evacuation was something called Berry Aviation. Not that I think contracting medevac to private civilian companies in military operations is a good idea, any more than privately run prisons. (I suspect Donald Trump and his cronies would love it, especially if they got a rake-off, but that’s just a snide comment in passing.)
            If Erik Prince was involved even to the extent of advising the President to use private contractors, and the POTUS listened to him for a quarter-second, that’s culpable in my book.
            But was he?
            Love to hear from anybody who knows more about it. Although if this is like other such incidents, getting hard-fact info on what happened is going to be like trying to nail fog.

            Some of these “contractors” are shell corps staffed by former/current military and CIA. Not sure if this applies to Berry Aviation though…. just tossing it out there.

          I think, based on the events, there SHOULD be hearings. Someone needs to be held responsible and prosecuted into the ground over this, though I suspect that would consist of throwing a Blackwater pawn sacrifice to the wolves. I give no fucks for anyone that works at Blackwater. They’re all despicable human beings.

    Speaking of military, Trump is awarding a medal of honor today to a Vietnam vet who got some lesser award earlier on but military and Congress people have lobbied to upgrade it. The very idea makes me ill. Not that the guy is getting the award — sounds like he deserves it — but that Trump will be awarding it. Let’s hope he stays on script.

  • John Kelly, who are you to criticize which people the wife of a fallen soldier had chosen to have by her side when the President’s call was received on a speakerphone, especially since Trump has said that many people were present on his end when he made the call?

    Mr. Kelly, you said you advised Trump not to make the call, but you should have told Trump directly to his face the obvious real reason that you advised against making the call: Trump would surely have screwed everything up because Trump is a moron, a soulless coward and a sociopath who’s devoid of compassion, empathy, conscience, shame, judgment, integrity and character.

    Mr. Kelly, you gave us hope that you were somehow going to manage the adult day care center at the White House. However, the Oval Office playpen has become the Oval Office pig pen, and you have become part of the pig pen.

    I hate to get all conspiracy theoryish on everyone, but, after watching Trump daily since he came down that fucking elevator in June 2015, I have serious doubts La David Johnson’s body is in that flag-draped coffin Myesha Johnson cried all over.

    She wanted to see his body, and she was told it had to be closed coffin. Told! I’ve seen enough kindly coroners and medical examiners on the teevee to know that you gently dissuade the grieving person by saying, “That’s not how you want to remember them. You want to hold onto the memory of them in happier times.” Seems slightly different than the Army version of, “Fuck no!”

    So, she asked to see his hand (his left, I assume) to confirm that it really is her husband in that box. The Army said they couldn’t do that because he was wrapped in a special covering. Was that covering made of adamantium (the hardest substance on Earth!) so it couldn’t be penetrated or, you know, shifted aside so his hand could be produced?

    The reasons for not letting see her dead husband’s body are starting to sound like the reasons Tump can’t release his tax returns.

Why ELSE would he mention the assault against women and gold star families when those are among the most egregious acts of calumny committed by The Prednisent? Why ELSE would he call Fredericka Wilson an “empty barrel” and tell a bald-faced, easily disproved lie to the White House press corps and, in the process, totally fuck himself and his legacy forever?
