I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way …
Ted Cruz came to New York Wednesday talking about education, but he’s the one who got schooled.
Show them all the beauty they possess insiiiiiiiiiiiiiide …
Cruz was scheduled to speak at Bronx Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy until students wrote a letter to the principal asking her not to let Cruz come, prompting staffers to cancel the appearance.
Give them a sense of pride, to make it easier …
“We told her if he came here, we would schedule a walkout,” said Destiny Domeneck, 16. “Most of us are immigrants or come from immigrant backgrounds. Ted Cruz goes against everything our school stands for.”
Destiny and her classmates communicated that sentiment to Lighthouse Principal Alix Duggins. […]
“The presence of Ted Cruz and the ideas he stands for are offensive,” the letter said. “His views are against ours and are actively working to harm us, our community, and the people we love. “
The letter called Cruz “misogynistic, homophobic, and racist.”
(skipping forward for dramatic bridge)
I DECIDED LONG AGO, NEVER TO WALK IN ANYONE’S SHADOWS! IF I FAIL, IF I SUCCEED, AT LEAST I’LL LIVE AS I BELIEVE! NO MATTER WHAT THEY TAKE FROM ME, THEY CAN’T TAKE AWAY MY DIG-NI-TY …everybody hates Ted Cruz and these kids are no exception, which is why they reminded us of that Whitney Houston song, PBUH.
And the school said, know what? They’re right. And if the kids hadn’t spoken up, they might not have had the stones to tell Ted Cruz to go back to Canada or whatever hole in the ground he was borned in. Specifically, Principal Duggins emailed the kids to say, “I’d like to commend you and the other students for your commitment to your beliefs and values. I believe that I would not have been able to get the visit cancelled without your actions.”
Hooray for badass kids!
That was just ONE part of Ted Cruz’s shitty trip to the Bronx. He tried to do a campaign event too. It did not go good:
There are more than 1.4 million people in the Bronx — but Ted Cruz couldn’t even muster 100 at a campaign event in Parkchester with state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., a conservative Christian minister.
LOL, that’s too bad.poutine spew about “New York Values.” While some hear that as a dogwistle about oh, we dunno, JEWISHES, turns out some of the folks from the Bronx, which is heavily populated with immigrants, hear different bigot dogwhistles coming out of his creepy-looking mouth. Like for instance, the son of the bigot minister Cruz did the event with:
Before the event with the conservative state senator, his son, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., slammed Cruz as a hypocrite at a press conference arranged by the Hillary Clinton campaign.
“Ted Cruz is a hypocrite. He not only offended New Yorkers, he offended Bronxites, and now he’s here today in New York and in the Bronx looking for money and votes,” Diaz said. “We in the Bronx know how offensive he’s been. We know the truth about our borough.”
YA BURNT! Or consider this lady:
“Just because he has a Hispanic last name does not mean he’s Hispanic,” said hairstylist Edna Ferrer, 57, who was chastising Cruz supporters outside a campaign event in the Bronx. “His mind is white.”
For the record, Cruz did not show up in the Bronx and say, “Oh I am so sorry, I shouldn’t have said that New York Values thing, my bad.” Instead he doubled down:
The people of New York know what those values are, the values of liberal Democratic politicians like Andrew Cuomo, like Anthony Weiner, like Eliot Spitzer, like Charlie Rangel, all of whom Donald Trump has supported, given tens of thousands of dollars to throughout the years.
That went over really well, obviously.
The New York Daily News responded by doing that subtle thing it always does, when it doesn’t like somebody:
That’s right Ted Cruz. Fuck you and never come back to New York, you piece of shit.
