jonesscreengrabOf course the Ku Klux Klan was never on the side of liberals and progress. This goes without saying. There can’t possibly be anyone who disputes this basic notion, could there?

Of course there could. Of fucking course there could. Why do we even bother to assume a basic faith in the decency and intelligence of humanity?

Oh God, What The Fuck Happened Now?

The internet was abuzz all Wednesday with reports of an Epic™ confrontation between two CNN pundits on Super Tuesday: Van Jones (a Democrat) and Jeffrey Lord (a Bag of Assholes). After Lord insisted Donald Trump had disavowed the KKK “many, many, many, many times” and that Democrats were just trying to score political points by making a big deal out of Trump saying, “new phone, who dis?” when confronted by Jake Tapper, Lord and Jones got into it.

In particular, let’s focus our attention on one exchange at 2:15:

JONES: I know this man, when he gets passionate about terrorism, I know how he talks about terrorism, the Klan is a terrorist organization.

LORD: It’s a leftist terrorist organization.

NO. Nope. NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWP. That statement is the wrongest wrong that has ever been wronged. That statement could not possibly be more Wrong with a capital “W” if it simultaneously blamed vaccines for autism, claimed the Holocaust didn’t happen, and sodomized a turkey. One day, they will build monuments to the wrongness of Jeffrey Lord’s five fantastically dumbshit words, except they won’t, because they will be too busy wondering who exactly the fuck is Jeffrey Lord?

Well, he is the guy who then said this:

JONES: You can put whatever label you want, that’s your game to play.

LORD: No, it’s important to history.

Oh, you didn’t. You fucking DID NOT.

Are we doing this? We guess we’re doing this. LET’S WONKSPLAIN THIS SUMBITCH.

Was The KKK Ever Liberal Or Leftist Or Whatever Word You Want To Use?

Hell fucking no, it wasn’t! The KKK was both founded and has acted as a conservative organization in every possible sense of the term for literally its entire history. For fuck’s sake, we can’t believe we even need to clarify this. What the hell basic fact of reality are Republican wankpuffins like Jeffrey Lord going to dispute next? Idris Elba’s sexiness? Gravity? Baby pandas being adorable?

So let’s get into the history of the Klan, because apparently, Jeffrey Lord slept through Social Studies.

The Original KKK Was Mad About Being Lame Losers

The KKK originally formed in the late 1860s. Can you guess what its formation was a response to? If you guessed “to further leftist ideals,” you might be CNN pundit and complete fucking idiot Jeffrey Lord!

Actually, it was because white loser Southerners who’d just lost the Civil War like a bunch of losers were mad black people were suddenly being treated like actual human beings. One of their first Loser Grand Wizards was former Confederate Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who may have been an all-around terrible human being, but who was definitely a majestic statuary inspiration. The group rampaged across the South, assaulting and killing freed blacks who dared try to assert their humanity and intimidating Republicans into not exercising their now-constitutionally-guaranteed right to vote. They were (and are still) terrorists in every sense of the word.

You might have noticed the word “Republicans” in that last paragraph, so let’s talk about that! It is a True History Fact the KKK’s members were Democrats at the time of the group’s founding, because the Republican Party had been formed to oppose slavery in the mid-1800s, and Abraham Lincoln (a Republican president) had freed the slaves. The Democratic Party, meanwhile, had supported and propped up slavery for its entire history. This isn’t entirely surprising, considering the Democrats’ base in the mid-1800s was largely in the South.

Hey, you know whose base is currently in the South today in 2016, which you will note is NOT a year in the mid-1800s? HINT: IT ISN’T THE FUCKING DEMOCRATS.

Anyway, the first iteration of the KKK was effectively wiped from existence when Congress and President Ulysses S. Grant — who knew maybe one or two things about telling slavery advocates to go fuck themselves and also personally kicking Nathan Bedford Forrest’s pasty ass — combined to drop a massive fuck-you-wrath-of-God hammer on their heads.

Ku Klux Klan 2: Racism Boogaloo

But just like measles, the disease of the KKK resurfaced after rampant stupidity was allowed to fester and coagulate. After a relatively brief, abortive comeback in the 1920s, the Klan really came back to prominence in the American South during the 1950s.

Hey, what started in the 1950s, again? Oh right, it was the Civil Rights Movement! The modern incarnation of the KKK (and also too the Confederate Flag, which wasn’t A Thing before then) started — again — as a direct response to black people demanding to be treated like people, a thing supported by liberals and opposed by conservatives.

This time, the KKK did the same violent shit they had in their first incarnation, except now they were allied with local police and government officials (many of whom were KKK members), so they acted with almost complete impunity. The KKK did a lot of awful, violent, terrorist shit — including assassinating NAACP organizer Medgar Evers and committing a whole mess of church and synagogue bombings. Remember Dylann Roof? Yeah, what he did was a page straight out of the KKK’s (mostly illiterate) book.

The Civil Rights Movement, meanwhile, was supported by two Democratic presidents from the Democratic Party, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. This support for decency and opposition to conservatism lost Democrats the South — and the white racist KKK vote — seemingly permanently. Though Johnson’s famous quote about “we have lost the South for a generation” is likely ahistorical apocryphal horseshit, it’s indisputably true that after the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, the membership of the KKK abandoned the Democrats wholesale for the Republicans.

If there is a current KKK member voting Democrat, that person must be the most confused human being in the whole entire world.

Wait, That Makes It Sound Like The KKK Are Currently Trump Supporters!

That is because they are. You’d think “former KKK leader David Duke just endorsed Donald Trump” would be a pretty clear indication that the KKK weren’t a bunch of dirty free-loving socialist hippie lefties, but rational thought seems to be a bridge too far for many conservatives. This is not altogether surprising, as they tend to be willing to blame liberals for everything awful in the universe, up to and including the discontinuation of Crystal Pepsi, the persistent success of the New England Patriots, and feline AIDS.

Republicans love to say that because the KKK was founded by Democrats in the 1860s/1950s, Democrats are the real racists now! And while we know conservatives are as a rule not very good at understanding change, we didn’t think that applied to the concept of the passage of time itself.

This has been your Thursday Wonksplainer. Good afternoon, good luck, and fuck you, Jeffrey Lord.

  • Lizzietish81

On Reddit I read a really excellent summary of the shift of the GOP…

    Bob99999999999 says:

It actually happened in two phases.

“The first one occurred around the turn of the 20th century. The Panic of 1893 was, up to that time, the worst economic depression in the history of the U.S. (it would later be surpassed by the Great Depression of the 1930s, of course). The crisis led to a growing movement of populism and socialism in the U.S. In 1896, an economic populist named William Jennings Bryan secured the Democratic Party’s nomination for president. Although Bryan lost the election, his nomination began the process of moving the Democratic Party towards the economic left.

This move towards the economic left was fully realized when FDR, a Democrat, became president in 1933 and introduced the New Deal. Although he was indisputably left-wing, FDR’s Democratic Party was still very much the party of the South and of segregation. Essentially, the Democratic Party had become a weird alliance of liberals and segregationists. Why would liberals be willing to tolerate an alliance with segregationists? Well, the Democratic Party needed the support of the working class if it was to challenge the big capitalists and Southern working-class whites were overwhelmingly pro-segregation.

The second phase occurred during the 1960s. With the Civil Rights Movement going on, the contradictions of an alliance between liberals and segregationists became increasingly obvious and insurmountable. Eventually, the liberals took over the party and kicked out the segregationists. Remember how the liberals didn’t do that earlier because it would alienate the Southern working class? Well, that pretty much happened. Instead of the white working class, the Democratic Party’s voting base was now racial minorities and champagne socialists.”

    • Msgr_Moment

You know what Bob99999999999 spells upside down?

    • Villago Delenda Est

Lyndon Johnson knew with certainty that he was losing the South when he signed the Civil Rights Act, but he did it anyways because the Civil Rights Act was the right thing to do.

His error was that he thought he had lost the South to the Democrats for a generation. That was an underestimate.

      • Thatsitfor Theotherwon

        “Fucking forever” was an underestimate.

      • yyyaz

LBJ, for all his faults, at his core was a man who deeply cared about civil rights. So he made the same assumption as our dear Pinkham:

“Why do we even bother to assume a basic faith in the decency and intelligence of humanity?”

    • JustPixelz

The civil rights movement was accused of being a front for Communists trying to destroy ‘Murka. MLK himself was often accused of being a Communist and all but admitted to being a socialist. There WERE actual socialists as part of the pacifist civil rights movement meanwhile, the KKK itself bathed in protestant imagery, put forth social conservatism and was often allowed to recruit in all-white churches. Not only that, but the KKK arose in the 1950’s as an extremist organization obsessed with protecting the existing order which the civil rights movement was trying to change. Lastly, there are two political parties and only one of which is overwhelmingly composed of white people…guess which.

That’s one of the real reasons the Republican establishment is so nervous. Trumps ego is so yuuuuuge, he believes that once the primaries are over he can shake that old Etch a Sketch and make everybody love him. Others more in touch with reality are not so sanguine.

Which is just one of the reasons why “conservatives” get rabbit ears.

  • DoILookAmused2u ?

More proof David Duke is a stupids cuz he done runned for office (and done got himself elected also too) fer the wrong party!

  • TheBidenator

Leftists are now hardcore racists and white supremacists even though historically every movement to advance the rights of minorities was conspiratorially called a “leftist plot” by wingnuts to sabotage America and usher in a Communist regime. Wingnuts still claim this is true, in fact I’ll be willing to guess that if I searched hard enough I could literally find them advancing that viewpoint about Black Lives Matter right now.

    • Rick Hill

To make the black folks OUR slaves we first had to release them from the slavery of the benevolent landowners who took such great care of their welfare…

  • DoILookAmused2u ?

One legislative issue pushed by David Duke when he was a Republican Lawmaker in Louisiana was the requirement that welfare recipients be tested for the use of narcotics. The recipients had to show themselves to be drug-free to receive state and federal benefits under his proposal.

    Sounds familiar, huh?

    • nmmagyar

But but but but, that just a smart way to save money!! It has saved literally tens of dollars in the states that have implemented it. If you ignore the cost of the testing, that is.

      • DoILookAmused2u ?

The important thing is that we of “European heritage” stick together, wink, wink.

      • Villago Delenda Est

The IMPORTANT thing is that Rick Scott’s wife’s company did the testing, so all that sweet sweet government contract work went in to their collective pockets!

        • mailman27

Rick Scott is an astonishingly unabashed crook.

          • jmk

Oh no… how can you say that about a man who was part of the largest fraud in history? He can’t be a crook…he doesn’t own that drug-testing company that did all the work for that initiative he pushed…how could anyone think he would benefit from it?

Ow. It hurts to even pretend to be that stupid.

    • lroom

In Alabama you have to pay for your own drug tests so I’m sure they’ll believe their saving even more money if they do that as well.

And all the good things that Democratic leaders have done was the conservative in them trying to get out. Not even wrong is how I would characterize some of the views that I see. Are you familiar with the reference. There’s certainly some scary rhetoric going around, and those in the GOP and the conservative movement calling the party’s frontrunner a fascist has been rather amusing, but I think that we’re a long way from 1930s Germany, although the scapegoating of minorities and outsiders (especially a religious minority) does give one pause.

“Show me one Klan member who’s voted for a Democrat in the past 30 years.”

I’d like to broaden a bit to:

Show me one Klantard, John Bircher or Libertarian who’s voted for a liberal…ever.

    • YourNameHere

I’m a libertarian and I voted for Obama twice. I also voted for the green party several times.

This is where I point out that Republicans wrecked the Libertarian party too. We did run a bunch of idiots anyway, but our standard version is fiscally conservative and SOCIALLY liberal. I’m a Peter McWilliams version of a libertarian not a Paul Rand. I think the Klan and Bircher and all those authoritarian douchbecocks can eat me.

That’s reassuring; thanks for posting. Of the loudest libertarians I’ve encountered, all have been Ron Paul groupies and the only thing they fear more than blacks and Muslims is women.

        • SullivanSt

It’s very necessary to distinguish libertarianism as a general political philosophy from the American Libertarian Party, which now has a very specific interpretation of that philosophy which is totally fucked up.

It’s also necessary to remember that most recent American politicians who prominently associate themselves with libertarianism aren’t truly in any meaningful way libertarian – for example, Ron Paul’s embrace of States Rightsism made him beloved of Dominionists who saw the opportunity to set up 50 state-wide authoritarian theocracies and realized that was just as good as 1 federal one; Paul in return embraced their support. I think a truly libertarian position would be that it doesn’t matter which government is trashing my rights it matters that my rights are being trashed.

  • MarkM

You wonder how the people who vote Republican can be so utterly wrongheaded about just about everything. Conservatives are also fucking *the worst* at understanding the meaning of words.

This is because Frank Luntz has taught them all not to give a flying fuck what words actually mean, and only ever pay attention to how focus groups respond to them.

For example, the political definition of “the left” literally means supporting the empowerment of the powerless (go look up its pre-revolutionary French origin), the exact fucking opposite of the central purpose of the KKK. Meanwhile the right is defined as supporting the continued empowerment or consolidation of power in the already powerful – which is of course exactly the central purpose of the KKK.

I really confused the fuck out of my soi-disant libertarian boss a few months back (for a few moments at least before the notion left his mind likely never to be reconsidered – sigh) when I pointed out to him that there’s a reason “liberal” and “libertarian” have the same word stem; both philosophies share a claimed belief in the maximization of individual liberties, the functional difference is in the understand of the concept of liberty – libertarians use an utterly stunted “absence of government restriction” standard in utter denial of the very real limitations on our freedom that can be imposed by non-governmental entities and by simple circumstance; liberals on the other hand define the concept in terms of having meaningful, practically available choice – it doesn’t make much difference to me if it would be legal to send my kids to a top-tier college if there’s no conceivable way I can afford to; much as it makes little difference whether I’m kidnapped by a private citizen or imprisoned without trial by a rogue dictator, I’m not free either way. As applies to the KKK, very obviously they are profoundly illiberal on a definitional basis as they exist to deny freedom to individuals.

So, to sum up: Jeffrey Lord is a fucking tool that nobody should ever listen to and certainly nobody should put on TV, so fuck you Jeffrey Lord and fuck you even more CNN.

    • SessileRaptor

” both philosophies share a claimed belief in the maximization of individual liberties, the functional difference is in the understand of the concept of liberty – libertarians use an utterly stunted “absence of government restriction” standard in utter denial of the very real limitations on our freedom that can be imposed by non-governmental entities and by simple circumstance; liberals on the other hand define the concept in terms of having meaningful, practically available choice – it doesn’t make much difference to me if it would be legal to send my kids to a top-tier college if there’s no conceivable way I can afford to; much as it makes little difference whether I’m kidnapped by a private citizen or imprisoned without trial by a rogue dictator, I’m not free either way.”

Very nicely put, thank you. I’m consistently in awe of the bravery of libertarians in their consistent willingness to sacrifice the lives, dreams and happiness of an infinite number of other people to achieve their utopia.

There is an old paradox called the Barber of Seville. This barber shaves all the men in Seville, except those who shave themselves. He does not shave any man who shaves himself.

So, what about the barber? He wouldn’t shave himself, because that would be shaving a man who shaves himself, which is against his rule. But if he doesn’t shave himself, that would be not shaving a man who does not shave himself.

It is a variation on the liar paradox, where the guy from Crete says “all Cretans are liars,” from about 2600 years ago.

This is like former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour whitesplaining that there weren’t any racial issues at Ole Miss when he was a student there in the 1960s. He also claims that everything was A-OK between the races in Yazoo City, MS, where he grew up. No doubt because the White Citizen’s Council that ran the place (did they have those where you grew up?) was a force for nothing but good times for one and all.

He seems to have completely forgotten the murder of three civil rights workers in the
summer of 1964 when he was 16. He told a reporter for Bill Kristol’s Weekly Standard magazine, “I just don’t remember it as being that bad.” Funny, I remember it as being bad and I was a 12-year-old in Pennsylvania. More details if your stomach can take it:

  • Darth Penguin

In fairness, this is the common and predictable result of trying to place politics on a left-right spectrum, pretending that clusters of views on wildly different arrays of topics are somehow logically and intrinsically linked. What’s left and right varies not only historically, but also between nations and sub-states.

If ‘left’ and ‘right’ are to mean anything other than ‘stuff associated with part 1 v 2 of a particularly over-emphasised north American nation’, it doesn’t really help to argue that ‘(1) racism = conservativism; (2) racist organisation = racist, therefore (C) racist organisation = conservative’. It’s logically correct, but only in the same way as ‘all unmarried men are bachelors’ is logically correct, it’s a mere definition that shows nothing outside of the meaning of the terms (and cannot resolve a dispute about how those terms should be defined).

Here in Aussie-land, ‘left’ and ‘right’ have gone through 2 phases – in the early days, ‘left’ meant pro-tarriff and ‘right’ meant free trade. Then from around 1910 onwards, ‘left’ meant pro trade-union and ‘right’ meant anti-trade-union, and that’s where our axis still is today, with our two main parties being the Liberal Party (alliance of liberals and conservatives) and the Australian Labour Party (alliance of social democrats and socialists, with 40% of parliamentary candidates appointed by labour union delegates). We do also use ‘left’ and ‘right’ in this strange social policy sense that the US seems to, but it’s secondary – you might say that racism here was associated with the left pre-1970 and the right post-1981 because of what each party did during those eras, but not because it’s part of any intrinsic definition of left and right.

What were the Klans positions on, say, progressive taxation, regulation of wages and trade union membership? I’m genuinely curious – I’ve never been to the US, and I don’t know much about the Klan outside of their violent racism. Did they even have positions on those things?

It would be best if we scrapped talk of ‘left’ and ‘right’ altogether in political discussion, but if we must use those terms, can we at least clarify whether we’re talking about industrial relations (which is what it means in most parts of the world), wealth redistribution, or social policy? Because whilst the author may well be correct – again, I’m not overly familiar with US history – the piece doesn’t really elucidate why the Klan’s version of racism has its roots in individualism/deregulation, as opposed to having roots in labour organisation and collectivism, which is what the attempt to define it as being ‘left’ or ‘right’ would entail, if it is to mean anything more than ‘racism = racism’.

(again, I’m not being disingeneous here, I’m genuinely interested – for the countries whose histories I’m familiar with – Australia, Indonesia, India, UK – I can think of examples of both right/individualist and left/collectivist sources of racism, so I’m interested in hearing where the Klan lined up in that sense).

    • GEMoore

You are absolutely correct in looking beyond the right/left construct with the Klan. They wanted to attend and endorse an anti-war event with some of us lonely but stubborn progressives on the Texas Gulf Coast, but lonely though we were , we had to say “thank you, no”. Their positions are often pretty libertarian.

We’ve protested them a couple of times when they had recruitment meetings. I’m giving you a link to an article I wrote about one of them. But they WERE Democrats.

  • susansylvia

The author rightly points out the the KKK was populated by Democrats, and in fact they gradually became the ‘enforcement’ wing of the Democrat party–this is an established fact. However, there is a parsing of words in this article in an attempt to minimize the involvement of the Democrat party in the KKK, but why bother? Regardless of whether the KKK was officially established by the Democrat party, or whether its members were almost exclusively Democrats is immaterial, frankly. The bottom line is that the sentiments embodied by the KKK and other racists organizations of the day aligned with the sentiments of Democrats, not Republicans.

The author also implies that because the South is now Republican, that means that all those Southern racist whites moved to the Republican party. But why would they move to a party that had been anti-slavery and pro-civil rights for over 100 years by that time? And why would the Republicans embrace them?? I’m sorry, but that makes no sense on the face of it, no matter how often liberals harp on it, while offering absolutely no demographic information to back up their statement, as per usual.

Let’s touch on a few historical points that the author seems to have missed, in a rush to make the Democrat party sound like the ‘true’ party of civil rights. Republicans passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875 granting blacks protection from the Black Codes and prohibiting racial discrimination in public places. Republicans passed the 13th, 14th 15th amendments granting blacks freedom, citizenship, and the right to vote. All of these measures we opposed by Democrats–the records of these votes are readily available.

In 1956, the Republican platform expressly endorsed the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education. The Democratic platform did not. On the contrary, that year 99 members of Congress signed the “Southern Manifesto” denouncing the court’s ruling in Brown. Two were Republicans, and 97 were Democrats.

Republican President Eisenhower established the Civil Rights Commission, and he pushed through the 1957 and 1960 Civil Rights Acts. When the 1957 Civil Rights bill was sent to Congress, it passed only with the intervention of VP Richard Nixon when the Democrats filibustered it, and was opposed exclusively by Democrats. As Robert Caro writes in his book, ‘Master of the Senate: The Years of Lyndon Johnson’, ‘it was LBJ who stripped the bill of its enforcement provisions. Even after that, the bill was still opposed by 18 senators’ — all of them Democrats, including, yes indeed, John F. Kennedy.

Members of the Republican party founded the NAACP, and Richard Nixon instituted the first Affirmative Action program in 1969 with the Philadelphia Plan.

Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, and Martin Luther King were all Republicans, and King’s family remains Republican to this day.

Frederick Douglass: “I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.”

    and

“I recognize the Republican party as the sheet anchor of the colored man’s political hopes and the ark of his safety.”

Hmmmm . . . sound racist to you?

The last KKK member to belong to the U.S. Senate was Robert Byrd, a Democrat, who died in 2010. He had renounced his KKK membership years before, but considering that he rose to the rank of Exalted Cyclops in a Klan chapter that he, himself, formed, one has to wonder if he quit because of an ideological change of mind, or political expediency. I agree with the author on this–he was undoubtedly one of the most confused human beings in the ‘whole entire world’.

I could go on. And on.

This adulation by liberals of LBJ and JFK as heroes of the civil rights movement of their day is especially nauseating and tiresome. Allow me to enlighten. Listen to President Obama’s words in a speech he gave on April 10, 2014 at the Lyndon B. Johnson Library:

“During Lyndon B. Johnson’s first 20 years in Congress, he opposed every civil rights measure that came up for a vote.” But we don’t usually hear about that from liberals.

Now listen to Robert Caro, Lyndon Johnson biographer, echoing this statement in his second volume on the life of LBJ, Means of Ascent : ‘When Johnson became president in 1963, some civil rights leaders were not convinced of Johnson’s civil rights views, due to his voting record. He had been a congressman, beginning in 1937, for eleven years, and for eleven years he had voted against every civil rights bill – against not only legislation aimed at ending the poll tax and segregation in the armed services but even against legislation aimed at ending lynching: a 100% record. Running for the Senate in 1948, he had assailed President Harry Truman’s entire civil rights program (‘an effort to set up a police state’)…Until 1957, in the Senate, as in the House, his record against civil rights – by that time a 20-year record – had been consistent.’

A quote from Lyndon Johnson in 1963: “These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. I’ll have them niggers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years”.

Spoken like a ‘true advocate for the civil rights of Blacks’.

Speaking of hypocrisy, JFK opposed the March 1963 on Washington by Martin Luther King and on October 10, 1963, had his brother Robert, U.S. Attorney General, direct the FBI to investigate King on suspicion of being a communist, including wiretapping his phone. Robert Kennedy once famously arranged to bail King out of jail (an act that sealed the deal on the black vote for the Democrats, but everyone forgets that it was Democrats that put him in jail in the first place!

The fact that the KKK supports Donald Trump speaks volumes about where he stands in the political spectrum. He is light years away from conservative thought, and conservatives have, as a body, rejected him as a candidate. Many feel he is the most liberal Republican candidate in a century, and indeed, we know he was a lifelong Democrat before switching to make his run for President. Many, including myself, believe that if elected he would govern as a Democrat, which is where his heart really is. So if the KKK supports him, it SHORE isn’t because he is a conservative–he’s a Democrat through-and-through, it makes perfect sense when you think about it.

If nothing else, my words prove that just as good a case, if not better, can be made that Republicans are the true civil rights party. We have failed in one respect though: we have allowed Democrats to whitewash us as racists for decades, with no push-back. Every time Republicans vote against some poorly-conceived or pork-stuffed ‘civil rights’ bill written as a token fix by Democrats to keep the minority vote rolling in, they are labeled racists loud and long by Democrats. If Republicans want the nation to abide by the immigration laws that have been put in place, they are labeled racist, when in fact the immigration problem hurts everyone, minorities and whites alike. Liberals also control the media and represent the majority of educators, making it difficult for conservatives to fight back–a real coup by liberals, I have to say.

But in truth, after Democrats have controlled the governments of the nation’s largest cities for well over 60 years, these minorities that they purport to help are no better off than they were at the beginning. And this is by design–just as Lyndon Johnson envisioned it. Give minorities enough hand-outs to make them happy, but not enough to help them out of the situation you have them in, then tell them how much they need you to get out of their situation. It’s been an effective message that the Democrats have exploited for years, and Republicans have allowed it, sadly. Somehow no one seems to blame the Democrats for all the failed programs they have built since the 1960’s–instead we call for more government intervention to improve things for the poor.

But some members of minority communities are starting to realize the truth and are moving to the Republican party, especially blacks and, to a lesser extent, Jews. Meet a few of them:

Most recently, with the Democrats’ embrace of Black Lives Matter, an overtly anti-Israel, anti-Semitic and generally racist organization, and Obama’s obvious anti-Israel and pro-Iran sentiments, Democrats are beginning to drive away long-time Jewish Democrats. As dark as things look for the Republican party now, I believe that the movement by minorities away from the Democrats and to the conservative side will continue and pick up steam, reinvigorating our ranks and offering those groups new hope.

Regardless of which of these losers we end up electing, we will be governed by a Democrat, and after four more years of bigger government, more debt and more failing and bankrupt government programs, people will begin to see the fallacies of liberal thought–and the pendulum will swing the other way, as it always does. At the same time, conservatives are waking up to the need to get our message out and reaching the point where we will begin pushing back vigorously on the lies that liberals tell, and this comment is a contribution to that effort.

And see? I made my case without using the F-word once. Isn’t that nice?

    • Rickyphoo

Oh, and David Duke is affiliated with which party?

Also, I do not remember any attacks on white people after either of Obama’s victories. The same can not be said for what is happening to minorities right now. And I will guarantee you it isn’t Democrats out there attacking women, blacks, Muslims and latinos.

      • susansylvia

David Duke first ran for the Louisiana Senate as a Democrat in 1975. In 1979 he ran as a Democrat for the 10th District Senate seat. In 1979
he made his first abortive run for president as a Democrat. In 1988, he ran in the Democratic presidential primary, but having failed to gain much traction as a Democrat, he then ran for the Presidential nomination of the Populist Party. He became a Republican in 1988. His message at that point was that he had left the Klan, shed the Nazi uniform he had proudly worn in many previous appearances, and only wanted to serve the people.

This shows that Duke, like Trump, is an opportunist who will
run in whatever party he thinks he can make headway in. You have fallen prey to the lies of the Left who say that people on the Right are racists and liberals are not. As this link will show you, 35 years of non-partisan research by the General Society Survey undertaken at the U. of Chicago (hardly a conservative institution) demonstrates that racism is a function of culture and background, rather than party. There are about as many racists on the Left as there are on the Right.

        http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/are-white-republicans-more-racist-than-white-democrats/

As for crimes against minorities, don’t listen to me, listen to a black man:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvmToBq_S_E

        So much for your guarantee.

I could go on and on and on debunking the lies you have been
told through the media, but that would be an entire book. You’re going to see these lies debunked more and more in the coming months and years–there is a serious problem developing on the Left, fueled by the lies of its leaders and the media. I suggest you find other information other than that being force-fed to you by the Left–dig a little deeper and uncover some truth for yourself.

        Any other questions?

        • Rickyphoo

Lady, you can throw out all the BS one-off quotes from a couple of blacks for trump guys and all the HISTORY lessons you want. But this is 2016 and while I agree that racism is a product of culture and background it is the GOP gave us Trump and he opened the for, and encouraged, racism, bigotry and misogamy. And the racists, bigots and misogynists flocked to him and by default the GOP. Now, the white power, (read KKK), assholes are out there jumping for joy because trump got elected and I will guarantee you that they did not vote Democratic. It is the trump supporters that are out there spray painting hatred all over mosques and synagogues. It’s trump supporters that are insulting and threatening minorities.
Hillary is not perfect and neither is the Democratic Party, but this mess is on the doorstep of the GOP and you own it.
