The Idaho strawberry farmer who legally changed his name to Pro-Life and planned to appear as such on the U.S. Senate ballot this fall is being thwarted by corrupt local politicians. The Idaho Senate has passed some emergency legislation that “would require candidates who change their name to their stance on the issues instead of a traditional name have a note added to the ballot noting their former name.” Quick quick, someone send any dumb liberal watchdog group over there — they are saying he doesn’t have a “traditional name” & that’s racist!!

Here’s the official legislation, as drafted by several rejected Wonkette commenters:

AN ACT RELATING TO ELECTIONS; TO PROVIDE LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS RELATING TO A PERSON WHO CHANGES THEIR NAME TO THAT OF A POLITICAL MESSAGE AND SEEKS TO HAVE THAT POLITICAL MESSAGE PLACED ON THE BALLOT AS A CANDIDATE; AMENDING CHAPTER 9, TITLE 34, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 34-903A, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE DUTIES OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE OR COUNTY CLERK WHEN A PERSON HAS FILED AS A CANDIDATE AND THE PERSON HAS CHANGED THEIR NAME TO WORDS THAT CONVEY OR ATTEMPT TO CONVEY A POLITICAL MESSAGE AND TO PROVIDE FOR A NOTATION ON THE BALLOT IF CERTAIN CRITERIA ARE MET; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHAT WE’RE TRYIN’-A SAY IS, AIN’T NO WEIRD-NAMER GON FILL OUR GUV’NENT CHAIRS NO WAY NO HOW… (GUY RUNS ‘ROUND CALLINIMSELF ‘PRO-LIFE,’ LIKE A DUMB ROOSTER A’ GOT HIS HEAD STUCK IN A POTATER, OF ALL THINGS).
