@FoggyFroggy: Exactly. Reforms to the current regulation system (and the bankruptcy system) as Obama was advocating today. The problem want to hear instant solutions to their own personal burdens, rather than long-term solutions that will help the entire economy.

Plus people listen to Clinton saying that she gives specifics while Obama is just giving "words" and they believe it. I read both of their speeches. Other than noting percentages of people unemployed in NC and other statistical information-- she wasn't much more specific.

I guess it is more reform vs short-term solutions-- and I always vote for reform.

Has anyone ever asked if people losing their houses is really that bad? A lot of those people who lost their house had very little equity in them, with maybe even zero down. So it was like they were renting their house, and when housing prices dropped and their mortgage was bigger than the price of the house they bailed, with foreclosures leading to further drop in housing prices.

But housing prices have stabilized, even in the Bay Area (natural bellwether for housing prices, however the hell you spell bellwether ... Googling ... bellwether is correct).

So the economy is going to be fine, I think. But we do need better regulations to avoid highly leveraged risk with no transparency, so the financial services sector doesn't become the pariah of the business community.

I'd like to point out that this is the same woman that said she'd bring Greenspan back. Nothing she says about the economy should matter, because that is simply DUMB. I know very little about economics, but I do know that you can't solve the problems created in under Greenspan's leadership by bringing him back.

Did anyone else read Obama's speech and realize that he isn't electable because he actually understands the economy and doesn't say either "I don't get it" or "Everyone will get their jobs back!"?
