Out of respect for the late Andrew Breitbart, it is not right to make fun of (the legacy of the ghost of) Breitbart as it pertains to this tribute video for Breitbart by one Chris Cassone, but the truth is, that is not even necessary, because the video itself is where the most Breitbart-ghost-legacy-related fun [...]

The great New York Times foreign correspondent and two-time Pulitzer winner Anthony Shadid died in Syria yesterday. He was among the best. Here’s just one incredible piece we re-read last night, a dispatch from Baghdad in March, 2003, just a day or two before the American invasion: His friend, Salman Radi, joined the conversation. “We [...]

Has your Wonkette not even commemorated Whitney Houston yet? What a singer, what a voice. Before there was Nobama, before there was Mittens, there was only one: Whitney. What a horrible, depressing end to a life of Song. Here is Sarah Palin agreeing with us and providing the “political angle” that this story so desperately [...]

In a quite unfunny Republican lavatory phenomenon, relatively speaking, the New Jersey Assembly’s Republican leader Alex DeCroce, 75, was found dead Monday night in a bathroom in the New Jersey Statehouse. Eerily, Monday was the last day of the State Legislature’s current session. The cause of death is unclear. DeCroce, who was an early supporter [...]

The official White House Flickr photo-porn stream has crassly brought POLITICS into the death of famous politician Ted Kennedy, by posting a set of pictures titled, “Remembering Senator Kennedy.” Yeah, more like “Remembering the Politician Ted Kennedy, instead of the apolitical national mascot we all loved as our own sort of Col. Sanders or whatever.” [...]

Beloved Utah Republican Orrin Hatch loves to sing, and he loves to compose songs, so he can sing them! The songs are often about the Mormon God, but this time the song is about the Liberal God, Ted Kennedy, who has tragically died of old age and sickness. Enjoy! [YouTube via "Scott R."]

To the nation’s shrinking pool of 80-year-old bitter white wingnuts, there is only one thing to know about liberal Taxachusetts leftist liberal Ted “Edward” Kennedy: Forty years ago, he showed the ultimate disrespect for Republican Political Traditions by getting in the car with an attractive girl …. And then he drove off a bridge and [...]

‘A BLEEDING HEART CONSERVATIVE’: Former Republican VP candidate Jack Kemp died over the weekend. He was sort of a loony supply-sider, but he actually cared about the working class and racial justice and all sorts of good things. A decent guy and one of the last of the big-tent Republicans. SO LONG, JOHN HOPE FRANKLIN: The revered historian died yesterday at 94. He had a good run, at least! Here, spend the 53 minutes you would otherwise spend today looking at horse porn watching this lovely 2005 interview with Charlie Rose. He was just great in every way. [Washington Post]

R.I.P. SENATOR PELL: One of Rhode Island’s awesomest former senators has died at the age of 90. Claiborne Pell was a big fat liberal and a millionaire who was obsessed with UFOs and jogged around Newport in his old Princeton letter sweater and drove a Mustang with a roll-bar because he was such a bad [...]

George Carlin Is Dead

by Ken Layne  1:37 am June 23, 2008

Happy Monday, not. George Carlin is dead. Heart attack, Sunday afternoon. Carlin had just won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. We have, whenever circumstance demanded, posted some George Carlin monologues.

NBC/MSNBC political broadcaster Tim Russert died today at work in Washington, killed by a sudden heart attack. Russert and his family had just returned from a vacation in Italy where they were celebrating the college graduation of son Luke. The VP of News for NBC and head of all Washington operations for the network, Russert [...]
