For the last few days, the folks at the Atlantic magazine have been hyping a piece from senior editor Joshua Green about the (not so) mysterious inner workings of Hillary Clinton’s terrible campaign staff, claiming Green had procured 200(!) internal e-mails and memos. Such teases! This is sort of like waving crack in front of John Edwards’ crack baby, but then saying “you have to wait for the September issue of crack to come out in three days.” But it’s out now, and we read it, and there’s not much you haven’t already known for months or couldn’t have predicted. Last night at 11:23, mean Hillary spokesman Phil Singer sent an e-mail to the Internet demanding Obama release his tax returns for back years, which is fair, since Hillary Clinton has yet to release anything about anything. At 11:25, the Obama wiseacres replied that Obama’s 2000-2006 returns are available on his website. Hillary spokesman Phil Singer denies that the Clinton campaign will steal all of Barack Obama’s hard-earned national treasure and pledged delegates. As he tells TPM, “We have not, are not and will not pursue the pledged delegates of Barack Obama. It’s now time for the Obama campaign to be clear about their intentions.” Who does he mean by “We,” however? Singer and his dog, maybe — they will not pursue Barack’s pledged delegates?
