Wonkette’s Liz Glover Joins Legion Of Washington Football Groupies

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Wonkette videographer Liz Glover is rapidly becoming the most famous person in Washington, D.C., and if you need proof, here she is partying with our city’s racist football team, the Redskins. She scored an invite to the 28th birthday party for Santana Moss, a very talented footballer! She meets a number of other All Stars there too — including Moss’ brother, “Sinorice” — and asks them about all the tragic hazing they play on the rookies, many of whom will be scarred permanently and later settle for dead-end jobs as Hill staffers. Our Second Annual ‘Hopefully The Last White House Correspondents Post Ever’

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Liz asked Henry for a lil' chicken dance, Henry one-upped her with the 'Cambodia Shuffle'It was quite the star-studded affair in Washington D.C. Saturday evening for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner, perhaps the District’s biggest social night of the year. This is the one where journalists and the politicos they cover congregate in an overt celebration of their inappropriate friendships — you know, the ones that caused the Iraq War. All of America can drink to that! Obviously the public-at-large wouldn’t care about a journalism party — they are not for the soft-at-heart, or people who have lives — if it weren’t for the WHCD’s other strange attraction, the liberal Hollywood Movie Star guests! Your Wonkette’s associate editor and videographer/Polaroidist Liz Glover donned our best church clothes Saturday to witness the proceedings, and all we got were strange memories and a wretched purple umbrella that says “Bloomberg.” The troubling story, below! Wonkette Baracks The Caucus!

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Not the cutest ones, but the only ones posing with the signThursday night, a bunch of local Obama groups got together at Bailey’s in Ballston to watch the Iowa caucus results and someone, foolishly, invited us. Why did we go? Frankly, we thought there’d be an open bar. Why did we stay? Well, suddenly Obama was winning and, um, there were cute boys and then I ended up having a really interesting conversation with a lovely woman about how Obama’s camp is using the internet to connect with a respond to supporters that I’ve since forgotten but which actually went beyond this article I’d already read. Intrepid Girl Reporter Liz Gorman joined the party, though, and her pictures are after the jump.

Everyone Likes Beer

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Yummy. And I don't mean the beer. The Hill is all a-buzz today (sorta) with the news that ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross was booted from the National Beer Wholesalers Association and Brewers Association annual holiday reception last week when he showed up with a camera crew. The Beer Wholesalers’ receptions are epic events on the Hill, since they involve higher-end beer than is generally offered by House catering and the leftovers always mysteriously end up “up for grabs” when the night winds down. The segment, designed to show the average (oblivious) American how lobbyists spend money to influence Members and their aides, reportedly airs tonight. A Final Farewell to Alex Pareene

Monday, November 12th, 2007

don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!So, as most everyone knows, Alex Pareene abandoned Wonkette for the greener Gawker field and is on his way out of D.C. as well. When I was still anonymous, he was technically my boss, so I got an taste of having a young whippersnapper of a boss at least 15 years before I expected it to happen. But, as Ken said before me, he was a pretty cool guy. However, he never really liked doing party reports (because he was happier in a dive bar) and really hated to be in pictures, which is why I documented his going away party, after the jump.
