Wonkette Party Crash: ‘The Week’ Magazine Opinion Awards ‘07

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

This is a very special party crash, because we actually did crash it: despite being on the panel that selected one of the winners, we weren’t actually on the list for The Week’s annual award dog-and-pony show. It all worked out in the end, of course, as we’re consummate complainers.

The event, held last night at the Four Seasons, honors people whose opinions a group of rich old people can generally agree are pretty good, or at least entertaining. Oh, and a blogger.

We attended, of course, with the lovely Liz Gorman, whose lovely photos are here. Our write-up can be found, as always, after the jump.

Wonkette Party Crash: Radicals for Capitalism Book Party

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

There was a party Friday night for Reason magazine Senior Editor Brian Doherty’s new book Radicals for Capitalism: A Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement. The over-partied duo of Liz Gorman and Intern Nick were given strict instructions to play nice with the Libertarians, while doing reconnaissance on the hot new Reason offices near Dupont Circle.

Your photo gallery is right here and your party report, featuring Nick’s wide-eyed fascination with and slight fear of libertarians, is after the jump.

Wonkette Party Crash: Hotline Says Good-bye To Chuck Todd

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Buh-bye! - WonketteHotline and National Journal threw a good-bye party for ex-Hotline EIC Chuck Todd last night and we crashed the party. Chuck’s got another baby on the way — and insider political magazines don’t provide a whole lot of Pampers. So he’s trading in all those years of integrity for a few nice suits and Brian Williams’ orange tan.

Follow Liz Gorman, Girl Reporter, and Intern Nick as their shoulders soak up the tears of the many scorned “acolytes” of Chuck “Show Me the Money” Todd, after the jump. And yes, there’s a photo gallery, too!

Wonkette Party Crash: Washington Life’s The Young and the Guest List

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

At right: Wonkette Editor Alex Pareene and BFF Reed Landry, founder of Late Night Shots, discuss the most polite way of weaseling out of telling a girl you’ve accidentally impregnated her. Then we went “skiing”!

You’ve been clamoring for them for nearly minutes and now here they are: your exclusive photos of Washington Life magazine’s “The Young and the Guest List 2007″ party event gala thing!

Your humble editor, being young and apparently even more of a tool than he thought, is on said list, and dutifully attended last night’s soiree with Girl Reporter Liz Gorman, whose gallery of photos can be found right here.

Our brief write-up is after the jump.

Wonkette Party Crash: Garutachi Underwear Dance Night

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Why should New York get all the fun of alternatively laughing at and lusting after barely dressed coked-out hip kids? That was the question posed by the good people at Garutachi, an indie dance party frequented by people who look better but have significantly worse judgment than you. Last weekend, they threw an underwear party, offering free Sparks to anyone bold enough to strip down on their way in. Gawker’s own Nikola Tamindzic was in town, and he was kind enough to stop by the party and take a couple pictures. His own NSFW gallery is available here. Our gallery, with the usual snide remarks, is below. We would’ve gone to it ourselves, but we were busy that night sitting at home with a bottle of rye. MORE »

Dinner Crash: Redskins Player of the Year

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Randy Thomas shows some leg - WonketteLast night, the Washington Redskins held their annual Quarterback Club Player of the Year dinner. One lucky Wonkette Operative was there.

After the jump, George Allen provides a tenuous excuse for us to run this.

Wonkette Party Crash: A Very Chamber of Commerce Christmas

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Last Thursday, we crashed one of the biggest, drunkest annual get-togethers of the exhausting holiday party scene — the Chamber of Commerce party. Our report is after the jump, and Liz Gorman, Intrepid Girl Reporter’s gallery is available here.

Wonkette Party Crash: Ain’t No Party Like an NDC Party

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Ellen Tauscher, uber-hostess - WonketteAn anonymous Wonkette Operative (Covert Free Booze Division) attended one of the ten zillion holiday parties going on this week, and was kind enough to send us this report.

Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher and the New Democratic Coalition held their Holiday Party last night at Ellen’s swanky pad (which I’m assuming was paid for with her Wall Street bucks and not her Congressional salary). In an unsurprising development, the place was packed with corporate lobbyists and their hired guns there to pay homage to some of the Democrats who might listen (and to the ones that taken their money).

Wonkette Party Crash: Cap File’s First Anniversary

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Last Thursday, we went to the National Portrait Gallery for the very first time. Not out of any deep underlying love of art or interest in American history, but for free booze and questionable celebrities. Yes, it’s a Capital File party! Specifically, the Cap File First Anniversary Party, starring, for some reason, Iman!

We brought along our girl Friday, Liz Gorman, whose fantastic (as always) pictures are all available in this fancy new gallery thing right here.

After the jump, our half-remembered party report.

Team Party Crash: Yeas and Nays Launch

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

IMG_2295.jpgMichael Grass of the Washington Post’s EXPRESS celebrates the launching of “Yeas and Nays” in the Washington Examiner.

Last night, we went to the WASPiest place we’ve ever been in our entire lives (the University Club) to celebrate the launch of the Washington Examiner’s gossip column, “Yeas and Nays.” It launched a month ago, yes, but we’re still quite excited.

The club was bumpin’, the wine was free, and the bloggers were in a corner talking only to each other. Our kinda shindig. After the jump, a few photos from a certain Girl Reporter who was actually supposed to be shooting for the Examiner.
