Wonkette Interviews Bob Barr At Weird-Sounding Reason Mag Party!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Your associate editor was prepared to go to this funny-sounding debate party last Friday at the D.C. headquarters of libertarian masturbation pamphlet Reason, one for which Bob Barr was invited to yell at Obama and McCain on the teevee, live. Ineffectiveness and vanity on this level is, of course, the very essence of libertarianism. So instead your editor incoherently liveblogged from home, viciously drunk (sorry!) and FAR AWAY from the old yelling octoroon. But Liz Glover went in our stead, and she brought a sidekick! MORE »

UTNE Reader Threw An RNC Party!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Scratch that ass!
The beloved UTNE Reader rented out an entire brewery last night, and your Wonkette joined many other media dorks for fun and hijinx. Here’s UTNE web boss Bennett Gordon, a bunch of people, some guy with his hand down his pants, and a blurry character who writes for Wonkette. More pix after the jump. MORE »

We Went To A Party At Netroots Nation!

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Thank you pals for the fun times! Here’s the magic secret to throwing a good free party: Have an open bar that will pour actual booze instead of just beer and wine, serve good food, and make sure the attractive people show up. This last hurdle can be pretty difficult to overcome at a blogger party, which was why the geniuses at the Huffington Post and GQ made sure their Netroots Nation party would feature little Zooey Deschanel-lookalike nymphet waitresses and a healthy smattering of cute boys in slim-cut suits straight out of Mad Men. Of course everybody got wasted. MORE »

Sorry We Showed Up So Late To Reason’s Party!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

We sent our Liz Glover and Jim Newell to the Reason happy hour/cocktail party that the Reason staff has every month to celebrate putting out their monthly issue. And then we waited for the funny report, and the fun video, but it never showed up, so we will just run this transcript that seems to cover what did or didn’t happen. It’s the “new journalism.” MORE »

And We Don’t Read Dana Milbank, Either!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Here’s Washington Post “local color” writer Dana Milbank drinking somewhere and talking about Wonkette, for some reason, and how he doesn’t read it. And then he gets spooked, because what if Wonkette is actually there, videotaping him, in the form of Our Liz Glover? [Liz Glover]

HILLARY CLINTON

Terrible Old White Women Worship Their She-Devil

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

How much fun was had in Washington on Saturday? This much. Two more horrific examples of why John McCain will be president, after the jump. MORE »

BARACK OBAMA

Sam Donaldson Is Hilarious

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Do you know what we miss? We miss Sam Donaldson yelling questions at Ronald Reagan, and telling weird stories, and doing his “webcast” at the Republican and Democratic presidential conventions in 2000. Here, our own Liz Glover asks Sam to tell some stories, and good lord, does he oblige. This was at the Michael Kelly Awards over at the Atlantic Monthly’s office on Thursday night. (Yes we know Donaldson is on ABC’s This Week but we never wake up in time for that, due to booze.)

STEPHEN COLBERT

Stephen Colbert At National Portrait Gallery: Well Hung?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Our Liz Glover dropped by the National Portrait Gallery to ask bitter voters about Stephen Colbert’s dignified triple portrait, which enjoyed a limited engagement hanging in the restroom foyer, over the water fountain. The answers may repulse you! (Thanks to Dawne Langford for the camera work.)

JOHN KERRY

Wonkette Bothers John Kerry, For The Kids!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Wonkette’s own Liz Glover took her video camera and Polaroid to an April 1 party for “Our America,” a thing to help the low-income youth. As you can imagine, the powerful D.C. media wanted nothing to do with this (poor black kids are such downers), but John Kerry was there! MORE »

LETTERS FROM A NUT: Regarding the March 5 Reliable Source item “A Warped Lens on D.C. Party Scene”: The caption above the photographs of Reed Landry and Liz Glover stated that, according to Glover, Landry “went postal” on her camera. I was shocked, appalled and dismayed to read this term in your newspaper. “Going postal” carries a hideous and degrading connotation regarding the …. [Washington Post]
