Sam Donaldson Is Hilarious

newVideoPlayer("sam.flv", 463,387,"");Do you know what we miss? We miss Sam Donaldson yelling questions at Ronald Reagan, and telling weird stories, and doing his “webcast” at the Republican and Democratic presidential conventions in 2000. Here, our own Liz Glover asks Sam to tell some stories, and good lord, does he oblige. This was at the Michael Kelly Awards over at the Atlantic Monthly’s office on Thursday night. (Yes we know Donaldson is on ABC’s This Week but we never wake up in time for that, due to booze.) Read more on Sam Donaldson Is Hilarious…

Stephen Colbert At National Portrait Gallery: Well Hung?

newVideoPlayer("fullcolbert.flv", 463,387,""); Our Liz Glover dropped by the National Portrait Gallery to ask bitter voters about Stephen Colbert’s dignified triple portrait, which enjoyed a limited engagement hanging in the restroom foyer, over the water fountain. The answers may repulse you! (Thanks to Dawne Langford for the camera work.) Read more on Stephen Colbert At National Portrait Gallery: Well Hung?…

Wonkette Bothers John Kerry, For The Kids!

newVideoPlayer("sway.flv", 463, 387,""); Wonkette’s own Liz Glover took her video camera and Polaroid to an April 1 party for “Our America,” a thing to help the low-income youth. As you can imagine, the powerful D.C. media wanted nothing to do with this (poor black kids are such downers), but John Kerry was there! Read more on Wonkette Bothers John Kerry, For The Kids!…

LETTERS FROM A NUT: Regarding the March 5 Reliable Source item “A Warped Lens on D.C. Party Scene”: The caption above the photographs of Reed Landry and Liz Glover stated that, according to Glover, Landry “went postal” on her camera. I was shocked, appalled and dismayed to read this term in your newspaper. “Going postal” carries a hideous and degrading connotation regarding the …. [Washington Post] Read more on …

LIZ GLOVER-LNS CAMERA SCANDAL LIVES ON! Today’s Reliable Source D.C. gossip chat at WashingtonPost.com is loaded with more talk about that Late Night Shots cretin breaking our LIz Glover’s camera. What next, a major motion picture? [Washington Post] Read more on …

Wonkette Party Crash Gets Its Camera Crushed, By Late Night Shots Founder

newVideoPlayer("washlife2.flv", 463,387,"");Gentlemen don’t knock the cameras from the hands of Wonkette’s Liz Glover, but this is not a story about gentlemen. It’s a story about Late Night Shots, and its founder, Reed Landry. LNS is, of course, the closed social website network for binge-drinking Georgetown douchebags chased away to D.C. by their wealthy, exasperated parents, Anyway, our own Liz Glover attended a pleasant soirée a whole month ago, and everyone was enjoying the witty banter and decent champagne when … well, watch the Cinéma Vérité video and read Glover’s report and hear her tragic cries for help, after the jump. Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon Joins Obama Youth

newVideoPlayer("kim.flv", 463, 387,""); But what do noise/punk/grunge pioneers Sonic Youth think of the 2008 Democratic race? Kim Gordon is “inspired” by Barack Obama, that’s what! She will support him, she tells Wonkette’s Liz Glover … even though Gordon admits Obama and Hillary are basically the same, as far as politics. This is what passes for “Fashion Week” these days. And here’s another funny thing: If Barry Obama becomes president, we’ll have a president eight years younger than Sonic Youth’s bassist. Think about it. When Animals Attack DC Fundraisers

newVideoPlayer("pet.flv", 463, 387,""); Wonkette’s Liz Glover took her various Video and Polaroid cameras to the “Sugar & Champagne” fundraiser for the Washington Humane Society. And what exactly happens when animals attack people in a sugar/champagne frenzy? Watch the video to find out! [Sugar & Champagne Affair] Read more on When Animals Attack DC Fundraisers…

Cap File’s White Party

Wonkette Roving Videographer Liz Glover keeps going to weird parties full of weird people and then sending us video from them. This is Capitol File’s “White Party” (AREN’T THEY ALL HA HA HA), a benefit for Corcoran. Read more on Cap File’s White Party…

Wonkette Party Crash: ‘The Week’ Magazine Opinion Awards ’07

This is a very special party crash, because we actually did crash it: despite being on the panel that selected one of the winners, we weren’t actually on the list for The Week’s annual award dog-and-pony show. It all worked out in the end, of course, as we’re consummate complainers. The event, held last night at the Four Seasons, honors people whose opinions a group of rich old people can generally agree are pretty good, or at least entertaining. Oh, and a blogger. We attended, of course, with the lovely Liz Gorman, whose lovely photos are here. Our write-up can be found, as always, after the jump. The Week Opinion Awards Gallery Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: ‘The Week’ Magazine Opinion Awards ’07…

Wonkette Party Crash: Radicals for Capitalism Book Party

There was a party Friday night for Reason magazine Senior Editor Brian Doherty’s new book Radicals for Capitalism: A Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement. The over-partied duo of Liz Gorman and Intern Nick were given strict instructions to play nice with the Libertarians, while doing reconnaissance on the hot new Reason offices near Dupont Circle. Your photo gallery is right here and your party report, featuring Nick’s wide-eyed fascination with and slight fear of libertarians, is after the jump. Reason Magazine’s “Radicals For Capitalism” Party Gallery Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: Radicals for Capitalism Book Party…

Wonkette Party Crash: Hotline Says Good-bye To Chuck Todd

Hotline and National Journal threw a good-bye party for ex-Hotline EIC Chuck Todd last night and we crashed the party. Chuck’s got another baby on the way — and insider political magazines don’t provide a whole lot of Pampers. So he’s trading in all those years of integrity for a few nice suits and Brian Williams’ orange tan. Follow Liz Gorman, Girl Reporter, and Intern Nick as their shoulders soak up the tears of the many scorned “acolytes” of Chuck “Show Me the Money” Todd, after the jump. And yes, there’s a photo gallery, too! Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: Hotline Says Good-bye To Chuck Todd…

Wonkette Party Crash: Washington Life’s The Young and the Guest List

At right: Wonkette Editor Alex Pareene and BFF Reed Landry, founder of Late Night Shots, discuss the most polite way of weaseling out of telling a girl you’ve accidentally impregnated her. Then we went “skiing”! You’ve been clamoring for them for nearly minutes and now here they are: your exclusive photos of Washington Life magazine’s “The Young and the Guest List 2007″ party event gala thing! Your humble editor, being young and apparently even more of a tool than he thought, is on said list, and dutifully attended last night’s soiree with Girl Reporter Liz Gorman, whose gallery of photos can be found right here. Our brief write-up is after the jump. The Young and the Guest List Photo Gallery Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: Washington Life’s The Young and the Guest List…

Wonkette Party Crash: Garutachi Underwear Dance Night

Why should New York get all the fun of alternatively laughing at and lusting after barely dressed coked-out hip kids? That was the question posed by the good people at Garutachi, an indie dance party frequented by people who look better but have significantly worse judgment than you. Last weekend, they threw an underwear party, offering free Sparks to anyone bold enough to strip down on their way in. Gawker’s own Nikola Tamindzic was in town, and he was kind enough to stop by the party and take a couple pictures. His own NSFW gallery is available here. Our gallery, with the usual snide remarks, is below. We would’ve gone to it ourselves, but we were busy that night sitting at home with a bottle of rye. Dinner Crash: Redskins Player of the Year

Last night, the Washington Redskins held their annual Quarterback Club Player of the Year dinner. One lucky Wonkette Operative was there. After the jump, George Allen provides a tenuous excuse for us to run this. Read more on Dinner Crash: Redskins Player of the Year…

Wonkette Party Crash: A Very Chamber of Commerce Christmas

Last Thursday, we crashed one of the biggest, drunkest annual get-togethers of the exhausting holiday party scene — the Chamber of Commerce party. Our report is after the jump, and Liz Gorman, Intrepid Girl Reporter’s gallery is available here. Chamber Party Gallery Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: A Very Chamber of Commerce Christmas…

Wonkette Party Crash: Ain’t No Party Like an NDC Party

An anonymous Wonkette Operative (Covert Free Booze Division) attended one of the ten zillion holiday parties going on this week, and was kind enough to send us this report. Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher and the New Democratic Coalition held their Holiday Party last night at Ellen’s swanky pad (which I’m assuming was paid for with her Wall Street bucks and not her Congressional salary). In an unsurprising development, the place was packed with corporate lobbyists and their hired guns there to pay homage to some of the Democrats who might listen (and to the ones that taken their money). Wonkette Party Crash: Cap File’s First Anniversary

Last Thursday, we went to the National Portrait Gallery for the very first time. Not out of any deep underlying love of art or interest in American history, but for free booze and questionable celebrities. Yes, it’s a Capital File party! Specifically, the Cap File First Anniversary Party, starring, for some reason, Iman! We brought along our girl Friday, Liz Gorman, whose fantastic (as always) pictures are all available in this fancy new gallery thing right here. After the jump, our half-remembered party report. Capital File Party Gallery Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: Cap File’s First Anniversary…

Team Party Crash: Yeas and Nays Launch

Michael Grass of the Washington Post’s EXPRESS celebrates the launching of “Yeas and Nays” in the Washington Examiner. Last night, we went to the WASPiest place we’ve ever been in our entire lives (the University Club) to celebrate the launch of the Washington Examiner’s gossip column, “Yeas and Nays.” It launched a month ago, yes, but we’re still quite excited. The club was bumpin’, the wine was free, and the bloggers were in a corner talking only to each other. Our kinda shindig. After the jump, a few photos from a certain Girl Reporter who was actually supposed to be shooting for the Examiner. Read more on Team Party Crash: Yeas and Nays Launch…

Wonkette Party Crash: MSNBC/NJ At the Watergate

The National Journal Group throws a mean party, so when they invited us to celebrate their blessed gay marriage to MSNBC (oh, we only give it ’til November — you know how those types are), we put on a tie and everything and cabbed it to the Watergate. The cabbie correctly pegged us as a “blogger,” picked up two well-dressed Republican-looking additional fares at a Georgetown hotel, and told them we were “a liberal Democratic tree-lover vegetarian” as they uncomfortably and politely laughed and silently pleaded to make it to Sequoia before we said something leftist. Oh, right, the party! Learn all about it, after the jump. Read more on Wonkette Party Crash: MSNBC/NJ At the Watergate…

Wonkette Party Crash: Bo Derek at Cafe Milano

Here’s Bo Derek with two sleazy guys who made very clumsy passes at Liz. Last night, Wonkette cabbed it over to Cafe Milano to hobnob with the glamorous stars of DC in what turned out to still be August. The reason? Alcohol and boredom! Oh, and Capitol File was hosting a party for Bo Derek to help launch a new tv network from NewsCorp! You get all that? All the fabulous pictures (courtesy, as always, Liz Gorman, Intrepid Girl Reporter) and half-recalled anecdotes (courtesy Maker’s Mark), after the jump.
