Twelve candidates showed up for a mayoral debate in Memphis last night, and as you can see in the photo, this included some crazies — can you believe they let a black guy participate? Here was another candidate’s epic closing: “I don’t know what I would do if I’m elected mayor of Memphis. [unintelligible] If I do get elected mayor of Memphis, well, there are some things I will do. I will go decriminalize marijuana and focus on the hard drugs, the real drugs, the junkies, keep them out of Memphis, and it’ll be a better place to live. And I would use The Pyramid. It’s not being used for anything. Well, let’s let Memphis take it for [unintelligible] — Let’s be known for something in the world. Let’s be known for having the best pot. The mayor of Homewood gave John McCain everything but the “happy ending” when the enfeebled Presidential contender visited this Birmingham suburb on Monday. Even though local elitist Democrats recently had to pay $1700 to rent the city-owned Rosewood Hall, John McCain got it for just $250. OK so he only rented two rooms for a night, whereas the decadent Dems had three rooms for two nights BUT STILL. On Monday, Michelle Bruce, the transgender City Council member in Riverdale, Georgia about whom we previously reported, prevailed in the lawsuit brought against her by Georgia “I Only Ran to Get the Queer Out of Office” Fuller. Fuller sued saying that Michelle has misled voters about her gender, but the suit was thrown out of court by the judge.

This year, she faced 2 competitors for that coveted slot, and, although she garnered the most votes, she faces a runoff in 11 days. Why do we care?
