Actually It's About Ethics In Gamergate Filmmaking

Gamergate ‘Documentary’ Derailed By Sad, We Mean ‘Hilarious,’ Men’s Rights Slapfight

no, YOU take it back!
“Gamergate” is basically about telling stupid women they need to shut up and stop trying to ruin videogaming culture by being feminists. It’s featured a parade of horribles, like death and rape threats and really tragic crimes against logic. There’s a fair bit of overlap between the Gamergaters and the “Men’s Rights Activists” crowd, because both have the important mission of keeping women from emasculating real people and imposing lesbian communist tyranny on the world. But today we are pleased to bring you a Gamergate story that isn’t about horrible vicious online smears of women. Instead, it’s about a couple of these terrible He-Man Women Haters Club dorks going to war with each other, and it is a beautiful thing. Deleted Comments Of The Week: An Armed Society Will Teach Black Teens Some Manners

Scootaloo is neither a gun owner nor Jewish, as far as we know. She worships Rainbow Dash
It’s time for our weekly mucking-out of the ol’ comments queue — a chore that we manage to be more diligent about than we are when it comes to changing the water in our betta fish’s tank. Sorry about that, Flushy, but the slime is just a lot thicker in the comments queue. This week, we have some fresh steaming nonsense from a couple of Internet warriors who are quite unhappy at the life sentence handed to Florida sociopath Michael Dunn in the first-degree murder of Jordan Davis. According to one “Jim Smithill,” Jordan Davis got exactly what he deserved for being a black teenager in a vehicle that was rudely playing loud music — as we all know, it’s the thuggish rear-seat passengers who cause the most trouble: Read more on Deleted Comments Of The Week: An Armed Society Will Teach Black Teens Some Manners…

Oh How Sad, Michael Dunn Is Going To Prison For Life. Wait, Did We Say ‘Sad’?

Lucia McBath & her son, Jordan Davis (1995-20120
Michael Dunn, convicted last month for the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis, was sentenced today to life in prison with no chance of parole. Since prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in Dunn’s first-degree murder trial, the conviction carried a mandatory life sentence. Judge Russell Healey told the would be ground-stander: Read more on Oh How Sad, Michael Dunn Is Going To Prison For Life. Wait, Did We Say ‘Sad’?…

Florida Jury Finally Finds Murderer Michael Dunn Guilty Of Murder

The guy on the right? He's the murderer
In November 2012, racist scumbag Michael Dunn killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis. Dunn claimed that Davis and his friends were rudely (read: blackly) playing their music too loud, and when he ever-so-politely asked them to turn it down a bit, the poor defenseless Dunn, who was armed, was scared for his life because BLACK and also he saw a gun, except that he did not because the only gun was his. Still, being afraid for his life because BLACK, he fired off 10 rounds into the SUV of unarmed teenagers, killing Davis, and then going to a motel with his girlfriend to eat some pizza, as one does after killing a black teenager. If one is a thug and a murderer. Read more on Florida Jury Finally Finds Murderer Michael Dunn Guilty Of Murder…

Deleted Comments Of The Day: Tramps, Trump, Temps, And Guns, Always Guns

We have quite a range of incoherent shouting for you in today’s visit to the ol’ comment queue, so let’s jump right in and unleash the ugly vile little snark mob, shall we? Let us begin with “bmmg39,” who had a bone to pick with all of us for our stupid-headed failure to recognize that James Taranto is a genius of fairness and equality, and not a rape-apologist douchebag. Our Snipy pointed out that, no, drunk men who rape drunk women do not actually get to claim that they have diminished capacity, but what does she know, because she is only a lawyer, and also she is a woman who disagrees with Taranto. Writes bmmg39, I’m amazed that so many people can read Mr. Taranto’s column and completely misconstrue (or willfully distort) what he is saying. Mr. Taranto is NOT talking about a drunk man forcing himself onto a drunk woman who’s either saying no or is passed out (which would be rape, whether it’s a man doing it to a woman or a woman doing it to a man). Aha, well that’s pretty enlightened of you there, bmmg39. We’ll just approve your comment and welcome you to the…wait, you wrote more? Hmmm…. Oh, Look, More Terrible People With Terrible Defenses Of ‘Stand Your Ground’

We are now officially in the “Stupid people make us want to scream” portion of the Michael Dunn trial, when every moron possible will try to outdo the last. For starters, how about Florida state Rep. Matt Gaetz, who disagreed with the verdict and believes Dunn should have been found guilty of murder, but couldn’t just stop there, of course. He had to add that the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law is pretty excellent, all in all: “I don’t think anyone is going to nominate George Zimmerman or Michael Dunn for person of the year,” Gaetz explained to CNN host Carol Costello. “But I think, overall, the Stand Your Ground law has worked for the state of Florida. If you look at the five years preceding Stand Your Ground’s passage, the murder rate was on the rise Florida every year. Since we passed Stand Your Ground, the murder rate had declined every year.” Causation: how does it work? Murder rates have been declining nationwide, regardless of whether states have SYG. But then Gaetz had to top himself and claim that Stand Your Ground is also Good For The Blacks: Read more on Oh, Look, More Terrible People With Terrible Defenses Of ‘Stand Your Ground’…

12 People Pretty Sure This Fellow Tried To Kill All These Children, Not Sure About The One He Succeeded With

The jury in the Michael Dunn case — the man in Florida who fired 10 shots at a car full of teenagers because they were black he was “scared” of their loud music, before heading back to his hotel, ordering a pizza, and declining to phone up the police — has come back with guilty verdicts for four charges of shooting a gun and attempted murder (the teenagers he did not succeed in killing), and a hung jury on murder in the first degree (the boy he did). This means they also deadlocked on lesser included charges, such as manslaughter — meaning at least one person on the jury agreed that Michael Dunn was reasonably scared for his life while shooting 10 bullets at a car speeding away, and with no return fire. Jordan Davis would have been 19 tomorrow. Read more on 12 People Pretty Sure This Fellow Tried To Kill All These Children, Not Sure About The One He Succeeded With…

HLN Welcomes George Zimmerman’s White Supremacist Bestie For Insights On Shooting Black Children

So first off, let’s get the sorta-apology out of the way. Yesterday, in our story on the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis for being black and in a car with loud music, we said that one of the few good things to note about the media coverage of the murder is that “outside of white supremacist sites, Michael Dunn doesn’t have a lot of support among the Armed Patriot crowd,” and we noted that a number of rightwing websites with a stiffy for George Zimmerman were not presenting Davis’s killer, Michael Dunn, as a Second Amendment hero. And that’s all true, as far as it goes, What we hadn’t been aware of is that HLN, CNN’s screamy little sibling, has provided a regular platform for George Zimmerman’s pal Frank Taaffe, who not only thinks Dunn was justified in shooting Davis for being black, but is also an unapologetic white supremacist. So while rightwing sites haven’t embraced Dunn, basic cable is happy to give a microphone to a bigot who suggests being afraid of black teenagers is a perfectly valid reason to kill the little thugs. Wonkette regrets the oversight. We just didn’t expect Dunn to have such mainstream defenders. How Many Sociopaths Did It Take To Kill This Unarmed Black Boy? One, And That’s Not Funny

We have not been posting anything about the trial of Michael Dunn, the Responsible Gun Owner who shot 17-year-old Jordan Davis to death after an argument about loud music. Mostly because the story is depressing and really not funny. In November 2012, Dunn pulled into a Jacksonville, Florida, convenience store parking lot, got into an argument about the volume of the music coming from the stereo of an SUV parked next to him, and ended up firing 10 rounds into the side of the SUV, killing Davis, because Dunn claims he saw the kid had a gun. Which turned out not to exist. And then Dunn and his girlfriend went back to their motel, ordered pizza, got a good night’s sleep (cause shooting people is hard work) and drove home 130 miles to South Patrick Shores in Brevard County. Finally, he called police, though probably not until he made sure his socks were rolled up neatly and back in his dresser. So you can see why we have not been treating this story as Comedy Gold. But now that the testimony in the trial has wrapped up, we need to address this horrible story. Will it be funny? Haha, no! ‘Responsible Firearm Owner’ Stands Ground Against Music (And 17-Year-Old)

A Florida man who objected to loud music coming from a parked car let his rage go to eleven, so he shot and killed one of the teens sitting in the car. Did we mention that this happened in Florida? And that the shooter is a white gun nut and the victim was a black seventeen-year-old? So, yeah, this one seems likely to remain a local Jacksonville story, don’t you think?
