HBO’s ‘Flight of the Conchords’ Screening Party

Monday, June 4th, 2007

HBO bought the kids some Sparks, sent a copy of their new funny indie show to the Rock n Roll hotel, and had a little party last Saturday night. Because we were… out of town, we sent the former Intern Nick (last Friday was his last day! Wish him well!) and the intrepid Liz Gorman to cover the shenanigans. Oh, and Andy Rourke was there for some reason.

Liz’s pictures are all right here, and Nick’s inspiring report is after the jump. (And for those playing along at home, find our nightlife reporters in their natural habitat hidden somewhere in this gallery).

Hirshhorn After Hours 2

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Hey, the Hirshhorn had another After Hours party last Friday! We couldn’t make it, because we’re terribly agoraphobic, but Liz Gorman and Intern Nick were going to be there anyway so we made them write about it and take pictures.

Liz’s gallery of scenesters drinking in classy environs is right here, and Nick’s report is after the jump.

‘Brightest Young Things’ Relaunch Party

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Two party posts in one day? Anything’s possible when you put shit off till the last minute! This weekend we forced Intern Nick and Liz Gorman to go to an event they were pretty much already going to attend — the Redesign Party at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hotel for DC’s favorite nightlife-detailing Waugh-referencing blog, Brightest Young Things. Some bands played, or something, people talked about CSS probably, we don’t know, we were out of town.

Nick’s party report is after the jump, and Liz’s gallery is right here.

Art Night: Paintings, Sculptures, Video Installations, and Bloody Severed Cocks

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Art! In Washington! It’s a crazy idea, but the kids at artDC decided to run with it. They put a bunch of art in the convention center, then lured hipsters over with the promise of beer and Ian Svenonius!

And we sent Intern Nick and Liz Gorman to investigate just what these so-called “artists” were up to. Liz snapped pictures of the dance party that broke out, and Nick, after the jump, explains the terrible atrocities he witnessed.

Watching The Debate With Pro-Choice America

Friday, April 27th, 2007

While we at watched last night’s debate in the usual fashion — at home, alone, chainsmoking, drinking bourbon, hating our jobs, making countless typos, cursing all of you under our breath — some people like to enjoy those vile things in groups, and in public, even. Among those people are NARAL, who invited us to attend their Debate party at Stetson’s.

We couldn’t go, ’cause, you know, we were liveblogging that shit, but Intern Nick had nothing better to do. So we sent him, along with Liz Gorman, to document a bunch of pro-choice ativists watching a bunch of suits pander to them without offending a good third of the nation.

Nick’s report is after the jump, Liz’s pictures are here. Enjoy while it’s legal!

Wonkette Party Crash: Radicals for Capitalism Book Party

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

There was a party Friday night for Reason magazine Senior Editor Brian Doherty’s new book Radicals for Capitalism: A Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement. The over-partied duo of Liz Gorman and Intern Nick were given strict instructions to play nice with the Libertarians, while doing reconnaissance on the hot new Reason offices near Dupont Circle.

Your photo gallery is right here and your party report, featuring Nick’s wide-eyed fascination with and slight fear of libertarians, is after the jump.

Wonkette Party Crash: Hotline Says Good-bye To Chuck Todd

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Buh-bye! - WonketteHotline and National Journal threw a good-bye party for ex-Hotline EIC Chuck Todd last night and we crashed the party. Chuck’s got another baby on the way — and insider political magazines don’t provide a whole lot of Pampers. So he’s trading in all those years of integrity for a few nice suits and Brian Williams’ orange tan.

Follow Liz Gorman, Girl Reporter, and Intern Nick as their shoulders soak up the tears of the many scorned “acolytes” of Chuck “Show Me the Money” Todd, after the jump. And yes, there’s a photo gallery, too!

Wonkette Party Crash: Hirshhorn Museum ‘After Hours’

Monday, March 12th, 2007

The Hirshhorn Museum: It’s free! Except for every couple months, when they convince the kids to go there by, weirdly, charging admission.

The museum had one of those “after hours” parties last Friday, and we sent Liz Gorman, Intrepid Girl Reporter to document the fun. Intern Nick just happened to be there, so we made him write it up.

You can find Liz’s pictures right here. And after the jump: Lite-brites! Ian Svenonius! Art! Tipsy pseudo-intellectuals both young and old! And Lite-brites!

Wonkette Party Crash: Michael Musto’s Book Party

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Events like last night’s pretend book thing for Michael Musto’s La Dolce Musto are exactly the reason we keep party-boy Intern Nick on retainer. Because sometimes, some parties demand Wonkette treatment, but your editor doesn’t actually want to hang out with Jeff Gannon, Karen Feld, and Some Creepy Blogger.

He didn’t go alone, of course — Liz Gorman, Girl Reporter tagged along for the ride and vowed never to forgive us for skipping it. Her gallery of pictures is available right here, and Nick’s party report, with lengthy addendum, is after the jump.
