First-Ever GSA Blog Brilliant Comment on Banality of Entire Web

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

jacob.jpgThe GSA (our government’s “Gay-Straight Alliance”) launched a “weblog” as part of fulfilling the president’s long-forgotten 2002 “eGov” initiative. Just like the State Department! It’s called “GovGab”, which is at least much harder to turn into a juvenile pun than “DippinDotGov” or whatever State called their stillborn attempt at Internets Relevance. It’s in the content, though, that GovGab becomes a more embarrassing horror show than State’s boring diplomacy site. Let’s meet the bloggers! MORE »

“According to Your Responses You Are a: Shiftless Bureaucrat”

Monday, November 27th, 2006

The CIA, apparently eager to recruit 16-year-old girls, has a brand-new personality quiz on their website. It will kill all of two minutes of work today, so check it out! The AP reports that it will use your answers to inane, non-CIA-related questions (most of them having vague connection to glamorous spy movies, but seemingly as written by a committee of people generally unfamiliar with spy movies) and classify you into one of the following groupings: “daring thrill-seekers, thoughtful observers, curious adventurers, innovative pioneers or impressive masterminds.” MORE »

No Fun With Federal Government Websites

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

The INS and the Government Printing Office, working together to ease the transition of the new citizen into American life, have printed out helpful Civics flashcards. Because we can always use a refresher course, we thought we’d take the quiz ourselves. Oh, here’s an easy question:
civicsq.jpg
Ah, we know that one by heart. If we had to pick just one portion that was particularly dear to us, though, it’d be freedom of the press. The press being the only non-government profession specifically mentioned and protected by the Constitution itself! Sweet memories of high school civics class are flooding back to us, and we’re proud to call ourselves citizens of… wait, hold on…

Hmm. Well, we’re sure they got the Second Amendment right, at least. MORE »

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Surprisingly Effective Against Nunchucks as Well

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

When you invite the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms onto your college campus, well, you just gotta expect they’ll eventually tackle a student who happens to be dressed as a ninja. No use getting so worked up about it. Still, it provides us with additional insight into the life of your typical ATF employee. We can’t decide which is more fitting, this:
