Minor Threat/Fugazi/The Evens/Dischord D.C. punk hero Ian MacKaye is not dead.

When you call him at home, he announces, “I am still alive.” It’s true! The Baltimore Sun even tried it. MacKaye supposedly died last night at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, even though he keeps claiming he hasn’t really died. Whatever you say, Ian!

We were just getting over the tragic death of that Ohio Representative who was found dead in his Washington apartment this morning when the latest shocking news arrived: Former Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn of Washington state was also found dead in her apartment this morning, in Alexandria. Both reportedly suffered “heart attacks,” both were relatively young (68 and 66) compared to say, John McCain or Robert Byrd, and both were Republicans. What did they know?

There is no greater enemy to the U.S. war machine than public policy lecturer Linda J. Bilmes. The terrorist lady has written several economic reports on the costs of the Iraq occupation — all showing the price of the endless war is gazillions of dollars more than anyone in Washington will admit.

Her latest report (written with Nobel laureate in economics and terrorist professor Joseph E. Stiglitz) got the attention of Veterans Affairs benefits bureaucrats, who figured the war costs would be even greater once you factor in the long-term health care needs of more than 50,000 maimed and injured U.S. troops.
