Reflections on this period of DCeption

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Well, that was quite a 48 hour period to go through to get my cherry popped. Resignations and indictments and intrigue and, of course, all of today’s waiting, WAITING, WAITING! Here’s what I have learned in the past 48 hours:

The Note needs to stop frontin’ like they were Thomas Pyncheon or something.
Rush Limbaugh needs to sober up and realize that his squeeze looks like Steven Tyler.
Scooter Libby: soooo getting pardoned!

Bush Sees the Bright Side

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Bush on CNN just now:

“We got a lot of rebuilding to do…. the good  news is and it’s hard for some to see it now but out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic gulf coast… out of the rubbles of Trent Lott’s house — the guy lost his entire house — there’s going to be fantastic house. I look forward to sitting on the porch. Out of New Orleans is going to come that great city again.”

Not if Hastert has is way. But, hey, as long as Trent Lott is taken care of.

Fwiw, even Daryn Kagan saw through that bullshit: “That was rather an odd thing to be watching. The President finally making it to the Gulf Coast after five days and then spending a big chunk of time — when he could be out seeing the damage — getting a briefing that, frankly, he could have gotten back at the White House.”

Geez. No nookie for you tonight, Daryn.

UPDATE: Official transcript after the jump. And, uhm, oops: “And I’m not looking forward to this trip.”

Daryn Kagan’s Rush Backlash

The blog “What’s Happening at CNN” — talk about your niche markets — has a juicy (if true) tidbit:

“It is being whispered at CNN/Atlanta that Daryn Kagan has been passed over for any and all promotion due to her relationship with Limbaugh. If she has a job at the end of the year at CNN it will be a miracle. Bosses are not happy with her boyfriend and his daily bashing of the network.”

Should this bear out, we would be very disappointed in CNN. (Well, we are already, but that’s another story.) Isn’t dating Limbaugh itself punishment enough? MORE »
