Butter Cow, a creation of Iowa farmer Duffy Lyon, possesses mystical kingmaking powers and rains fury on ungrateful, weak farmers. Butter Cow endorsed Barack Obama this fall and now has deified him: enter Butter Obama, Lyon’s latest butter sculpture. In another instance where Americans ought to question the validity of the Iowa caucuses, Barack Obama is hoping to win the state with the endorsement of a farmer who makes cow sculptures from 600 lbs. of butter. This farmer, Duffy Lyon, will go on radio regularly offering 60-second support messages to Obama, and this is a legitimately big deal in Iowa. Not only because Lyon is the most important person ever from Iowa, but also because Butter Cow is the Mormon God and refuses to support Mitt Romney.
