Bob Filner, the Democratic California Congressman who lived out the revenge fantasies of thousands of frustrated travelers this summer when he raged out on airline staff about lost luggage, has entered an “Alford plea” in the case. Apparently, doing so allows him to agree that the government could convict him without actually having to admit any guilt. He ended up paying $100 (plus court costs) for trespassing and claims he didn’t ask for any special treatment for being a Congress member. His still faces ethics charges, but we all know the Ethics Committee never does jack anyway, so don’t worry about Bob! [CQ Politics]
