One Less Interesting Place to Go In Washington

Tonight at 6pm, Stoney’s opens its doors one last time before closing shop. Despite the décor of cop badges and photos of Republican politicians lining the walls, we’ll always remember our old roommate’s story about the place. At the time, he was a bouncer at the BlackCat. After work one night he was invited over to Stoney’s for wee hours entertainment that allegedly played host to an assortment of cops, prostitutes and pimps. It’s hard not to believe his story when the Post’s editorial review leads:
“For 37 years, Stoney’s has been a smoky come-as-you-are hangout for neighborhood workers, Secret Service agents, Washington Post reporters and ladies of the night.”
As for me, a Stoney’s burger with fries was all I could handle.

As for the persistent rumors that Stoney’s is moving over towards 19th Street? My bartender Mike told me, “That’s one thing that [owner Tony Walker] is looking at.” Stay in the loop by signing up for e-mail announcements at stoneysdc@gmail.com.
