While we have always wanted a Gerald Ford commemorative coin, we find the Mint’s new plan to take the only circulating US currency with women on it and supplement it with the dudes who are on all the other money a little bit idiotic. But whatever, Sacagawea never annexed half of Mexico, so fuck her.
The director of the Mint, Edmund C. Moy, said the number of each presidential dollar coin issued would depend on circulation demands forecast by the Federal Reserve, regardless of how well known a president was. “This could be a renaissance for some of our lesser-known presidents,” Mr. Moy said in an interview.
Because who can forget the Susan B. Anthony Mania of 1979? Millard Fillmore, come 2010, you will no longer be remembered merely as a particularly shrill and unfunny duck.

Who's the cat that won't cop out,
when there's danger all about?
Taft . . .
Right on.
You think Harding is the worst president ever? What about James Buchanan?
William Henry Harrison will circulate longer than his presidency?
Let's face it, if the U.S. mint started stamping Monica Lewinsky's face on the $1.00 coin, no one would notice for at least 6 months and it probably woudn't even get anybody fired.
I vote for Harding as classic "Worst President Ever" and Bush 43 as new "Worst President Ever."
Grover Cleveland will get two issues, I'm guessing.
This mucking about with the coinage is so, well, Bush league. Howzabout putting Nixon on the three-dollar bill? And Reagan on the $13? Now that'd be exciting.

I'm going to keep a collection with my "Liberty Dollars!"

Nixon on the $3 bill? Is there something we don't know about him?
Foley wants to be on the $3 bill, with a page on the backside.

I'm about stop making the play money and paying off our debt, now that is a subject worth talking about!
Will Reagan's coin showing him as the Gipper or holding Bonzo?
Well, considering the current political climate... do you think Bush 41, Bush 43 or Reagan would ever get a coin? As is, our qualification is they have to be good or at least noteworthy. Here's a quick run down.
Penny - Lincoln, kept the country together freed the slaves.
Nickle - Jefferson, pretty much started the push for religious freedoms.
Dime - FDR, Great Depression, WWII... started all the social programs we love and depend on.
Quarter - Washington, made us a country. Is the only military commander after a revolution to not just take control of the country afterwards.
Fifty Cent - JFK.
Dollar Coin - Ike/Saq/Anthony - These have never been popular.
One Dollar Bill - Washington Again.
Five Dollar Bill - Lincoln Again.
Ten Dollar Bill - Hamilton, established the bank system in the US.
Twenty Dollar Bill - Jackson, Battle of New Orleans, Trail of Tears. I don't agree with his policies but he was pretty good.
Fifty Dollar Bill - Grant, I suppose this is kinda digging a hole. Not that he was corrupt but his administration was.
Hundred Dollar Bill - Franklin, um... yeah.
How do you think this president will fair? I dare say down near the bottom of the list of presidents, Harding, Pierce, Buchannan, Johnson, Grant. You would have protests if Bush's mug tried to be put on a coin 50 years from now. Trying to toss it into a giant pile of all the presidents doesn't make the idea any more inviting.
I suppose this is the same sort of thought process that let Bush into college. Hey, if I can't get in by my own merits... lets just have the standards lowered enough to get me in.
I'm sure the Buchanan one will be a great gay fave!
The Jimmy Carter coin will cost you $10 to purchase, but will only be worth 25 cents.

Oh, really? I should think not. I mean, the San Francisco American Legion Hall isn't called Alexander Hamilton because the name has a nice ring to it.
