When We Hear a Politically-Themed Satirical Song, We Reach for Our Revolver
We’re not quite heartless enough to mock benefits for deserving charities, but… well, we’re about to mock a benefit for a deserving charity. Because the theme of the benefit is “The Funniest Celebrity in Washington.”
Hey, Washington isn’t an inherently unfunny place — Dave Chappelle! Others, presumably! — but here’s the line-up:
Oh, man. There’s a whole lotta funny in that list. A soul-deadening amount of funny.
But you should still buy a ticket. Because the less fortunate should not be punished for the sins of journalists.
(Important note to everyone in Washington: PLEASE STOP TELLING MATT COOPER THAT HE’S FUNNY.)

Note to Matt Cooper--people laugh at your jokes because you are fat and bald and they feel sorry for you. They aren't funny. Dana Milbank is funnier than you--and he makes me cover my eyes in embarrassment. Get skinny and buy a wig--that would be hysterical. Do that and I'll buy a ticket.

$10 says that the surprise encore will be Lou Dobbs and Chris Matthews performing "Who's On First." Or the Capital Steps singing a topical parody of "my humps." God help us.

I heard John Bolton has an incredible schtick with a wiseacre ventriolquist dummy that culminates in the good ambassador becoming very confused and strangling the wooden rascal to "death." He then does a Nazi salute and walks offstage. Killer!

Cal Thomas does a great bit about how much he hates airlines (peanuts, who wants to eat peanuts? and why are the seats so goshdarned small?) Then he takes a watermelon and hits it with a sledgehammer spraying watermelon bits all over a tarp covered audience. Plus, he's like a giant, which is moderatley amusing in and of itself.
