Crazy New Orleans Mayoral Candidate: End of an Era
Sadly, this is the header image that currently greets visitors to Kimberly Williamson Butler’s campaign website. We don’t know if it was our constant, affectionate coverage, or the less affectionate threats of legal action, but Ms. Butler is no longer enjoying a summer day in the Magic Kingdom in her campaign portrait.
But she’s not out of the woods yet — we have reason to believe that Butler has never actually stood in front of a giant mock-up of her campaign sign… aw, whatever. We’re bored with her. Bring on the next nutjob, please.

Kimberly Williamson Butler Continues to Astound Us
Above, Butler’s website image as it appeared last week. Below, the image today. In both: Wonderous power of imagination.
So, Ms. Butler, after threats of action of Disney Lawyers, you took the time to photoshop the trashcan out of your header image there, but didn’t bother to go take a picture of you in the REAL NEW ORLEANS, WHERE YOU LIVE.
Well played, Butler. Well played.

Crazy New Orleans Mayoral Candidate Having a Bad Week
Ah, Kimberly Williamson Butler. In case you forgot, she’s the mayoral candidate in New Orleans whose website featured (jesus, still features) a picture of her grinning happily on a French Quarter street corner that, it seems, exists only in Disneyland. This despite her living in the actual New Orleans, of course. So we can all tell she’s a bit nuts. Unlike us, though, the Walt Disney Corporation is unamused:
A Disney public relations official confirmed Friday that the picture comes from the theme park’s “New Orleans Square,” and the company had been made aware of the unauthorized use of the image.
“We’ve referred this to our legal department,” said the official, who did not give his name, referring further questions to a Disney lawyer who could not be reached.
Kim just can’t catch a break. We’re still mulling over that Wonkette PAC idea some commenter suggested last week — if we get it off the ground, she’ll be the first non-former-male-escort beneficiary of our largesse (but only because a certain Floridian Senatorial candidate doesn’t need the dough). We need to foster crazy public officials wherever we can.

Wonkette’s Week in Review: Chutes and Ladders Edition
- It turns out that a court does resemble a circus, at least when Jessica Cutler is there, along with a former paramour as plaintiff and an alleged former paramour as defense counsel. Well, not anymore, as defense counsel had to “pull out.”
- Well, at least Tim Russert is beaming, now that his son is getting beamed across the country on satellite radio. As for us, we’re just into the free Jim Beam.
- Sometimes we wish that even though things sounded too good to be true, they still were true.
- Like the story of Kimberly Williamson Butler, the New Orleans mayoral candidate who supposedly posed in front of New Orleans Square in Disneyland, instead of the real-life New Orleans, for the photo on her campaign website.
- Oh wait — that story was true.
- Never thought it would happen, but we got bored of talking about a complete pervert.
- Just a little question to see who’s the biggest asshole boss on the Hill, but we got a lot of responses.
- Moving off the hill, up Pennsylvania Ave, and from abuser to abused, we wonder who will be Helen Thomas’s new rag doll.
- So Scotty may be on the way out — perhaps by the end of the summer, according to the latest rumors. But Rummy, he of the allegedly iced underpants, probably isn’t going anywhere. Sorry, David Ignatius.
- It’s definitely not too much with the superlatives, is it? Okay thanks, we were a little self conscious for a minute.
- You know, we’ve been in this game long enough to know that Cynthia McKinney is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to batshit crazy politicians.

Crazy New Orleans Mayoral Candidate Update: Crazier Than We Thought!
Well, since this morning, we’ve confirmed it: that picture of New Orleans Mayoral Candidate Kimberly Williamson Butler was definitely taken in Disneyland. No streets in the French Quarter curve like that, among other obvious discrepancies. Now what kind of campaign would bother to so obviously fake a photo of the candidate standing on a corner in the city he or she actually lives in? Well, the kind of campaign whose candidate may have been too busy spending a couple nights in jail to take a real picture:
Ending one strange political saga by starting another, the clerk of New Orleans Criminal District Court, Kimberly Williamson Butler, surrendered herself to an irate criminal court judge Friday morning after a week of ignoring court orders and arrest warrants, and then walked outside the courthouse to announce her candidacy for mayor.
Butler — who’s from Buffalo, NY and moved to New Orleans in 1999 — was thrown in the clink for mishandling FEMA fund applications. After hiding out for a while, communicating via talk radio, she made the classic “turn yourself in as you announce your candidacy” move, which we feel like can only be done properly in Louisiana (didn’t the Kingfish do something like this? Or Earl Long, at least?).
She is Wonkette’s Crazy Mayoral Candidate of the Day. Congratulations, Kim. Don’t forget to vote.

Not Quite the Happiest Place On Earth
So we don’t have too much of a stake in the New Orleans Mayoral elections and it’s a bit (or a lot) out of our usual purview, but someone sent us this tip that we just can’t pass up. We don’t know much about candidate Kimberly Williamson Butler, but we have been to New Orleans, and, uh, this picture doesn’t quite look right to us:
On the left, the header image of Butler’s campaign website. On the right, a picture of New Orleans Square in Disneyland. And, uh, we’re not sayin’, we’re just sayin’… frankly, we don’t remember what the trash cans looked like in the French Quarter, but the cleanliness of the street and the presence of fannypackin’ middle-Americans has us a wee bit suspicious.
And hell, maybe it’s not Disneyland. Maybe it’s Istanbul.
