The latest massacre of Iraqi children came as 21 Shia market workers were ambushed, bound and shot dead north of the capital. The victims came from the Baghdad market visited the previous day by John McCain, the US presidential candidate, who said that an American security plan in the capital was starting to show signs of progress.Lorry bomb kills children in school [Times of London]

In the left of the photo, that's the US Ambassador trying to brush away the stench of decay, corruption and death from his fluted nostrils.
The helmeted guy is Wilfrid Brimley, hired by McCrazy's staff to play a general of undetermined nationality.
There entire thing was done in a back lot at Studio City.
Why didn't they have a photo op of nearby civilians, without any flak jackets or protection of any kind?
@sluggo:
Actually, doesn't helmet guy look like a fat, moustachioed R. Lee Ermey?
You may be on to something...
@sluggo: and @WhiteyMcPetworth:
You're both wrong. It's Newsradio and Kids in The Hall alum Dave Foley!
@WhiteyMcPetworth: Could be Cliff Clavin. (If true, wouldn't that say a bunch about our chances for success in Iraqistan.)
Couldn't somebody just go ahead a photoshop a Coptix logo on McCrazy's flak jacket already?
If he's going to try and dazzle us with his bullshit, least we can do is help it along the blogosphere.
@sluggo: It couldn't be Cliff Clavin. Cliff Clavin would have a PLAN, man.
Flack jacket, scmack jacket. That exposed mellon of McPain's makes for a juicy sniper target.
@sluggo:
Interesting. As WALNUTS! has said several times, it's a little known fact that things are actually going quite well in Iraq.
To be fair, what Senator McNutsalot said was that you or I could go walking on the streets of Baghdad (assuming you or I are an insane U.S. senator with an entourage of 100 marines, three Apache gun shits and two black hawks covering our every wobble).
He didn't say nothing about no Iraqi school children or Shia market workers being safe. That's be setting the bar way too high.
How much money, time and resources were wasted on this taxpayer-subsidized political ad for WALNUT's "Campaign of One"? I keep thinking there must be something funny about this, but it's such an idiotically perfect summary of what's wrong with this ENTIRE FREAKIN' ... ehrk ... yurk ... ack ... mmmph ...
*We apologize for the preceding rant and now return you to our regularly scheduled rant, already in progress.*
Speaking of Disneyland's innovation, as the arrow reads if you hold it on the picture, I always thought that Disneyland would be the first place to create a weather altering device, but it possibly is the Chinese for Olympics 2008. Atleast children have fun at Disneyland, however ...
In all fairness, every time I go to the local market, I wear a flack jacket and have 100 soldiers and snipers secure the location first.
That being said, why are we relying on American soldiers? Aren't we supposedly training the Iraqi's to secure their own nation?
I hope that poor rug merchant didn't get whacked. That would screw up WALNUTS! narrative about how safe it is in the streets of exotic Baghdad.
21 dead for a photo-op. Not bad. Those are acceptable odds for any red-blooded republican. Long live the surge!
Bastards.
@Whattheheck:
So correct, as long as they were not American dead, that is just collateral damage.
Blue gingham check is under consideration by the R&D folk at the DoD for the new, improved urban camoflage scheme.
Anti-sniper ghost shirts...emperor-candidate is really wearing no clothes!
