BREAKING: It’s Prounounced “BAY-ner”!
Well, kids, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks to all the readers who pointed out our mistake to us. Sorry about that — we’re new in town!
Personally we find it quite dubious. When was the last time you heard the vowel “o” pronounced like a long “a”?
But then again, we can’t really blame the man. We got beat up a lot on the playground too!

BREAKING: GOP Leadership Has A Boehner!
Things have “perked up” a lot since we complained about having nothing to blog about. Mr. Abramoff, is that a new House Majority Leader you have in your pocket — or are you just happy to see us?
Breaking news gives us a hard-on! (And yes, that’s one thing the New Wonkettes can offer that the Original Wonkette never could.) The AP reports:
Republican officials say Rep. John Boehner of Ohio has been chosen House majority leader. Boehner defeated Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri, 122-109, after lagging behind his rival in a first, inconclusive ballot. Boehner campaigned as a candidate of reform, and said his experience as chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee had demonstrated his ability to pass major legislation.
Stop smiling so much, Roy — you lost! Even though you had the advantage of being acting leader, your candidacy was doomed from the start. How could you compete with the “Sinatra good looks and style” of John Boehner — to say nothing of his highly suggestive last name, which definitely gets people to sit up and take notice?
So let’s get this straight: Boehner will be following DeLay. Um, isn’t that kind of like putting the cart before the horse?

A Disturbing Courtship

Hillary Clinton and Newt Gingrich have been at the flirting stage for a few years now. Like most aspiring 2008 Republicans, he has been quick to snuggle up to HRC whenever a photo-op presents itself. And Hillary hasn’t been shy about making nice with the man that had her husband by the nuts for most of the mid-90’s. So, we were surprised but not shocked to come across this 1994 quote from Gingrich:
I clearly fascinate them,” Gingrich said of the Democrats. “I’m much more intense, much more persistent, much more willing to take risks to get it done. Since they think it is their job to run the plantation, it shocks them that I’m actually willing to lead the slave rebellion.”[Washington Post, 10/20/94]
By now we’re used to glaringly white people from both sides of the aisle trying to co-opt African-American culture. But isn’t this just a little ridiculous?
