Cue the Boyz II Men - We’ve Reached The End of the Road

Well, that’s it for us. On January 30th, the permanent Wonketeers David Lat and Alex Pareene take the helm full-time. Until then, there are still six publishing days to be filled. In what must surely be a Wonkette fantasy realized, six steady hands will take turns on this dirty bitch, one day each. First up, tomorrow: Low Culture’s Jean-Paul Tremblay.

I’d like to thank everyone who gave this warmongering libertarian a shot at making you laugh. We’re not sure what they were thinking either. But as my favorite writer Harlan Ellison is fond of saying, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

We’d also like to give special thanks to the Washington Canard, our co-editor Felix, the girlfriend and Lockhart Steele for all the help this week.

Hi, Again

While the subject line could accurately describe my holiday break, let’s instead think of it as a fresh introduction. A few readers (and one colleague) have asked today who is “Eric Pfeiffer?” For those confused, huddled masses wondering where your beloved references to anal fornication have wandered off to, allow me to offer this brief re-introduction:

Ana is off selling her book. There’s a new Wonkette team on the way. In the meantime, somebody has to steer this ship. And since I’ve displayed such adept skills cat sitting for Mr. and Mrs. Wonkette, the kind people here at Gawker have asked me to fill in for the week. When denying the siren song of the Xbox 360, I spent the past year blogging for National Review and writing for a few other publications.

Before your stomach completely turns, take comfort in the knowledge that I’ll only be playing here this week. Oh, and that’s me on the far right in the pic, appropriately enough.

Things Will Be Different This Time, Promise

While we wait for the new Wonkette starting line-up to hit the scene the folks in charge have decided to lower the bar for the next generation of sex jokes and local bar misspellings by tapping yours truly to hang around this week.

It’s been over a month since I quit blogging and swore off traversing in career threatening gossip mongering. I am nothing if not a man of conviction. But these things always find a way of working themselves out. You know, like when you got back together with your ex-boyfriend for the third time or forked over $15 and three hours to watch King Kong. Yeah.

I Can Finally Get Back to Watching the Tony Danza Show

Wonkette says goodbye to our right-wing man today. Apparently, he’s trying to get a “job,” and the princely salary of $12 per post would force him to rely on that welfare state that doesn’t exist so much anymore. He writes:

I have to go crawl back into my undisclosed location now. That means no more co-editing of the site for me. I promise to return at uncomfortable moments like the boyfriend who dumped you six months ago but still wants to hook up. Trust me, it’s better this way. Say Hello to Your Friendly New Punching Bag

Hi, I’m Eric and I’ll be here doing some guest-blogging this week. Wonkette has already said hello on my behalf, so I’ll get to it: Why exactly is a conservative male blogging for Wonkette? It’s a good question, but one to which I cannot comment during an ongoing investigation.

Meet the New Co-Editor, Same as the Old Co-Editor

As you may have noticed, fall has brought changes to Wonkette: lots and lots of guest co-editors. This week’s newbie is Eric Pfeiffer, formerly of National Review Online’s “Beltway Buzz” blog and even more formerly of Hotline. We have no idea why he’s here.

He’s on the opposite side of the political spectrum but on the same side of the firewall. Please give him a warm welcome and now you can’t pin all the Cindy Sheehan jokes on me.
