A Florida prosecutor just wanted to send a positive message to women on Mother's Day, but for some reason, a lot of people seem not to recognize his inspirational intentions. Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis posted this little ray of sunshine to his Facebook account on May 11:
Honestly, it's like people go out of their way to find the negative in a harmless statement like that.
Lewis confirmed to Orlando station WFTV Wednesday that he did write the message, but that he meant well, explaining that "It's an inspirational message to do the right thing." And who can really disagree? Honestly, if more crack hoes would just get their tubes tied and clean up their lives, their parenting skills would almost certainly improve overnight. How could anyone object to such a warm, loving message of support for filthy whores who refuse to take any responsibility for themselves?
Jezebel also notes that the "crack hoes" post is just one of many eclectic messages posted by Lewis, who also was very upset by the unfair invasion of Donald Sterling's privacy, urging fellow Facebookies to "Join me in changing your Facebook profile photo to one of DONALD STERLING!!!" For some reason, that didn't quite prove to be as catchy as #BringBackOurGirls, so Lewis is going to have to look to other topics if he wants to be a trendsetter.
How about making use of his vast legal knowledge to comment on the Issues of Our Day?
Let's say it together: He seems nice.
In addition to the casual racism (we have to say we were impressed by the New York Daily News's careful description of Lewis as an "apparent bigot"), Lewis also is a little obsessed with media coverage of Michael Sam, saying that when he saw Sam on ESPN, "I want puke watching [sic] the Network." And he's also not a fan of Sea World, because they are cruel to orcas. He saw it in a movie.
Still, he's not all bad. He likes his dog, an undeniable cutie.
So hey, a racist sexist asshole, but he likes dogs. That has to count for something, right? (You know who else loved dogs?)
Florida State Attorney Jeff Ashton responded to a local teevee station with the following statement:
I have been made aware of certain statements attributed to Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis on social media. I do not agree with the political sentiments expressed by him and I find some of the words he chose to be both offensive and dehumanizing. Political speech is protected by the first amendment of the United States Constitution and I do not police the private thoughts, views or expressions of those in my employ.
And this is pretty much correct, in that government employees generally enjoy immunity for their private speech, because otherwise there'd be no whistleblowers, so hooray for the First Amendment! This is one of those cases where if he got shitcanned, it actually would be a violation of his free speech rights.
On the other hand, nobody is obliged to give the asshole a reality TV show.

Follow Doktor Zoom on Twitter. That's some amendment, that Amendment 1. It's the best there is.
Casual Racism-- Blue jeans and tee shirt instead of a pointy hood.
He's obviously caught the rabies.
