It turns out everyone's favorite closeted homosexual support group the Republican Party seems to have wanted Lady Gaga at last summer's Republican National Convention far more than it wanted noted sleeping aid Mitt Romney there: according to the hilarious details of a lawsuit against one of the RNC vendors, Lady Gaga was offered one million dollars to perform at the convention. Let's all take a moment to hope that there is a parallel universe out there where she did in fact agree to appear for all the squealing Republican convention-goers, so we may all imagine the waxy tears in Lindsey Graham's eyes as he mouthed along to the lyrics from his front-row seat.
From the Washington Examiner:
Many entertainers, including Journey and Lynyrd Skynyrd, agreed to perform at the convention, but Lady Gaga's offer was the most lucrative, according to an email sent last summer by AAN's director of development, Pete Meachum.
"See what it would take to get Gaga instead of Dolly," Meachum requests of Rob Jennings, who heads Cater America LLC, an event production company based in Wyoming.
Jennings, whose company is being sued by AAN, was instructed by Meachum to try to make the offer to Lady Gaga more tempting by telling her it would be an event "honoring women who run for public office."
Oh, Pete Meachum. You are making us think you have already wandered over to that parallel universe, this one where you can ask Lady Gaga to perform at a GOP event under the banner of "honoring women." What is it like there? Is Rick Santorum a butt plug salesman in this universe? Is Newt Gingrich thin? Is Kentucky literate? [Washington Examiner]
À chacun son goût. The next time I'm around the only cook I know, I'll ask him if he's prepared neeps as you suggest.
