ANDY MCCARTHY IS SCARIER THAN KSM

  • THE WORST DECISION ANY MEMBER OF ANY SPECIES OF ANY GENUS HAS MADE SINCE THE CAMBRIAN EXPLOSION, OR EARLIER: Andy McCarthy is easily the nuttiest wingnut on National Review’s The Corner — the #1 Internet blog — and it was a delight to read his reaction to the announcement of KSM’s trial in New York City: “The decision to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other top al-Qaeda terrorists to New York City for a civilian trial is one of the most irresponsible ever made by a presidential administration.” He explains that this fits perfectly into Lord Voldemort’s latest scheme to return to full power. 2. germansteel says at 3:22 pm, November 16th, 2009

Andy - you fucking coward - just leave NYC if you’re pissing your pants already!!!

  3. Doglessliberal says at 3:23 pm, November 16th, 2009

But THIS is the best decision ever!: Starting a war based on lies in Iraq so that an adequate number of troops could be sent to Afghanistan, and thus causing the deaths of countless soldiers and civilians in both countries for years after it would have been over in Afghanistan, had that war been conducted properly.

  4. snideinplainsight says at 3:23 pm, November 16th, 2009

Yeah because no one in New York City is at all bitter or angry about 9-11. They’re all like fuzzy little urban care bears about that -

He has that little confidence in his country’s justice system, eh? How unamerican!

  7. chascates says at 3:26 pm, November 16th, 2009

So bringing KSM to NYC will be the equivalent of the Nazi’s opening the Ark of the Covenant in the Indiana Jones movie? If we ever capture Osama bin Ladin he’d have to be killed on the spot lest his evil eye cause our young people to become zombies.

  8. snideinplainsight says at 3:27 pm, November 16th, 2009

    Vituperative-widow bear, Islam-mistrusty bear, kill-em-all bear, my-brother-was-a-fireman bear, let-argue-about-the-memorial bear …

They’ll just paint a big friendly daisy on KSM’s prison jumper, that’s what they’ll do!

  9. sati demise says at 3:27 pm, November 16th, 2009

I pity the terrorist who lives in NYC during this trial. they will be followed and beat up every single day.

then Nancy Pelosi will add them to teh hate crimes bill.

  10. He thinks Obama is only trying KSM as a backdoor way to get Bush administration folks on trial for war crimes. Man, if only McCarthy was right; that would be great. Unfortunately, I think this is just because the guy was involved with, you know, a conspiracy to commit a crime in New York City.

  11. SmutBoffin says at 3:29 pm, November 16th, 2009

Andy McCarthy is so high-per-bowl-ick sometimes.

  12. hockeymom says at 3:29 pm, November 16th, 2009

I’d go with ignoring a memo entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.”

  13. lampadadog says at 3:30 pm, November 16th, 2009

“Its shock troops, such as the Center for Constitutional Rights”

No accident his name is McCarthy, eh?

  14. chaste everywhere says at 3:31 pm, November 16th, 2009

KSMU is the besteverest raddio station in Springfield MO. And how there putting it on trial? No wonder Charlie McCarthy’s all angrified.

magic titty: He was OK in Pretty in Pink…

  17. uncletravelingmatt says at 3:33 pm, November 16th, 2009

Nope. The worst decision ever made was going to war with a bunch of invisible, immortal cave-dwellers with special Islamagical powers. Al-Qaeda makes the fucking Justice League look like a troop of retarded Brownies. Maybe someone should have thought that plan through.

  18. V572625694 says at 3:33 pm, November 16th, 2009

Republicans are in favor of the rule of law the same way they’re in favor of capitalism: as long as it’s working for them, it’s the greatest system ever devised. But the minute it isn’t: out it goes! Bail out Goldman Sachs! No trials for terrorists!

There’s a name for abandoning your principles when they are no longer convenient.

  19. qwerty42 says at 3:35 pm, November 16th, 2009

The decision to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other top al-Qaeda terrorists to New York City for a civilian trial is one of the most irresponsible ever made by a presidential administration.
Doglessliberal says it all. Oh yeah, I forgot, Andy is a big fan of torture too, and that was such a great idea.
nope, no irresponsible decisions made by the last administration. none.

  20. memzilla says at 3:37 pm, November 16th, 2009

Actually, we Noo Yawkahs would like to bring Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld here for a civilian trial.

  21. Crazybroad says at 3:37 pm, November 16th, 2009

Geez, and here everyone’s been telling me all day that this was the worst decision of any member of any species of an genus has made since the Cambrian explosion, or earlier. I think I need better-informed friends. *headdesk*

  22. SayItWithWookies says at 3:37 pm, November 16th, 2009

JMP: His other argument (equally preposterous) is that KSM might insist on representing himself, and then he’ll be able to see all the top secret documents being used to prosecute him and he’ll be able to pass this intelligence on to other terrorists. Because, of course, he’ll be staying at the Ritz during his trial, and will be given a laptop and wi-fi access.
And since no court has ever had to deal with top secret information being subject to discovery before, they’ll have no way to deal with it other than McCarthy’s imagined scenario, which I think he cribbed from a Batman comic book.

  23. Doglessliberal says at 3:38 pm, November 16th, 2009

Doglessliberal: could NOT be sent to Afghanitstan. Idiot.

  24. Mad Brahms says at 3:39 pm, November 16th, 2009

My favorite is that we’re “giving him a soapbox for his anti-American views”, which is apparently worse than giving him a closed trial and holding him without rights (not to mention torturing him), thus *validating* his anti-American views. Speak no evil, yes. Do no evil? Who cares!

  25. snideinplainsight says at 3:42 pm, November 16th, 2009

Hey hey, do you guys know what William F. Buckley, Jr. would think of Andy McCarthy?

  26. chascates: It seems like the wignuts believe that bin Laden is really Magneto, and KSM one of his Brotherhood or Alcolyte sidekicks (maybe Mastermind?); only the super-prison at Guantanamo has the resources to contain their powers.

  27. bitchincamaro says at 3:42 pm, November 16th, 2009

Hold on now. Rudy 9iu11iani owns “outrage” for any and all 9/11 related matters. Get with the program, Andy.

“They will demand disclosures about investigative tactics; the methods and sources by which intelligence has been obtained; the witnesses from the intelligence community, the military, and law enforcement who interrogated witnesses, conducted searches, secretly intercepted enemy communications, and employed other investigative techniques.”

    Chickens. Home. Roost. Etc.

  32. StrangelyBrown says at 3:49 pm, November 16th, 2009

People, *of course* a conservative couldn’t possibly understand that when you give a crazy person the opportunity to spew his insane rantings in a public forum, everyone immediately recognizes that he’s crazy and stops fearing/listening to him. Why do you think they keep holding tea party rallies?

  33. Paul Tardy says at 3:50 pm, November 16th, 2009

Doglessliberal: That post is the last draw, you are officially OUT of the People v KSM jury pool. NYAH!

  34. comicbookguy says at 3:50 pm, November 16th, 2009

snideinplainsight: They’re not righteously angry like the Real ‘Murkins[tm]. You know, the ones who live a thousand miles away safely in Middle America and turned the 9/11 anniversary into a Glenn Beck Fan Club event?

  35. Cape Clod says at 3:52 pm, November 16th, 2009

Were terrorists responsible for the Cambrian explosion, too?

  36. Less Court! More Kangaroo!

  37. He’s got the scareds because a trial will give KSM a ’soapbox’? Will that cause all the world’s Truck Nutzies to drop their 2nd Amens Glocks and grab their cocks at the sight of the 1st Ammends?

  38. norbizness says at 4:01 pm, November 16th, 2009

Remember when we gave Timothy McVeigh that trial and the country was plunged into civil war for six years, only ending when Idaho was wiped off the map with a volley of thermonuclear devices?

Me, too. Good times, man. Good times.

  39. Crazybroad says at 4:03 pm, November 16th, 2009

clientnumber8: You and I must have the same friends.

  40. snideinplainsight says at 4:03 pm, November 16th, 2009

comicbookguy: You mean like the ones who soaked up all that homeland security money to boost the Wichita Fire Department’s anti-terrorism capabilities, etc? Yes, I can clearly see why all those guys are so bitter.

  41. gurukalehuru says at 4:06 pm, November 16th, 2009

So, if I got this right, he thinks that this is Obama’s plan to open up a war crimes trial on Bush. His worst nightmare is my wildest dream because, damn, I would love it if he were right.

  42. norbizness: And then there was the time that Clinton tried the terrorists responsible for the 1st World Trade Center bombing. Don’t you remember their daring escape from prison and subsequent reign of terror in New York?

  43. Mad Brahms: Let’s GIVE ‘em a soap box to broadcast their views — my guess is those pantywaists in Europe and most Muslims will decide that our kind of crazy is a whole lot better than KSM’s kind of crazy.

  44. norbizness says at 4:16 pm, November 16th, 2009

JMP: I do! It sounds like both we and David Broder have pieced together American history from a series of sugar packets!

  45. “That is, Pres. Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, experienced litigators …”

While Holder may be an experienced litigator, I thought the wingers always complained that Hopey was young, hadn’t done anything, was just a community organizer — now all of a sudden he’s Clarence Darrow?!

  46. “Measures such as ENHANCED INTERROGATION…saved countless lives” Wingnuts, do we have to CATTLE-PROD your GONADS in order for you to admit that you condone TORTURE (of non-American citizens of brown-skin-ish descent) Say it! I love torture! Say it! Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  47. rottenart says at 5:11 pm, November 16th, 2009

  50. Aflac Shrugged says at 5:15 pm, November 16th, 2009

McDuff: Wingnut’s first paradox: Government is simultaneously too incompetent to be trusted with anything of importance, yet also somehow terrifying in its omniscience and omnipotence.

  51. queeraselvis v 2.0 says at 5:26 pm, November 16th, 2009

“This antiwar Left, President Obama’s base, has demanded investigations and prosecutions against Bush officials.”

    Oh yes please! *fapfapfapfapfap*

  52. Lascauxcaveman says at 5:37 pm, November 16th, 2009

StrangelyBrown: My thoughts exactly. The thing about giving nutjobs like KSM a ’soapbox’ is they reveal themselves to be the nutjobs they are.

If one wanted to play it cool, one could make all kinds of legitimate complaints about how the US of A has mistreated various Islamic peoples over the last hundred years, but no, they don’t ever do that. They just can’t resist the urge to crank up the dial of the Crazy-O-Meter to 11 every time they get up on that there soapbaox.

  53. Jewdishoowary Square says at 6:29 pm, November 16th, 2009

Worst since the Cambrian Explosion? I dunno, you should have been there for President Trilobite B. Buchanan’s decision to let the southern end of his tide pool secede. The guy just didn’t have the spine to take a stand.

  54. zhubajie says at 6:54 pm, November 16th, 2009

Why do neo-cons want kangaroo courts? Do they really think that only *other people* will end up there? How naive can someone be?!

  55. BlueStateLibtard says at 8:25 pm, November 16th, 2009

  58. LowerdPeninsula says at 3:04 am, November 17th, 2009

McCarthy, eh? What an appropriate name.

But, wait. Imm’uh let you finish, Andy, but pardoning Nixon was one of the most irresponsible decisions ever made by a presidential administration, yo. Oh, and LBJ escalating Vietnam. Also.

  59. glamourdammerung says at 5:08 am, November 17th, 2009

LowerdPeninsula: I would say Nixon bombing Cambodia and Laos and hoping no one would notice would be on the list.

  60. LowerdPeninsula says at 7:37 am, November 17th, 2009

glamourdammerung: Nixon would have quite a few decisions top a list like this. Needless to say that my adding Ford not pardoning him kind of sums up everything about Nixon into a trucknutshell.
