POLS WHO CALL CONSTITUENTS STUPID = WONKETTE HEROES

  • CONGRESSMAN INSULTS MEMORY OF FIREFIGHTERS & NYC COPS & GIULIANI FROM 9/11: Democratic Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota is in “hot water” for telling The Politico, awesomely, that “25 percent of my people believe the Pentagon and Rumsfeld were responsible for taking the twin towers down. That’s why I don’t do town meetings.” Okay, but what does the insane 75% believe? [Star Tribune]

I thought that the Birthers (who are hilarious) had forced the Truthers (who are annoying and lame) out of the public consciousness for good. There used to be a time when you couldn’t go to a community event about the war without the Truthers making everyone attending look fucktarded. This applies to Representatives, too?

Between Bachmann, Franken, that Muslim/terrorist Ellison and the dancing wedding party….Minnesota is all kinds of awesome.

  7. 51dimes says at 11:17 am, July 28th, 2009

The other 75% blames Brett Favre, until a few weeks from now when they will have to readjust their thinking.

The whole state just needs to re-zone itself into two regions - The Twin Cities and Crazytown.

  15. I have to say my opinion of Minnesota has change substantially in recent years. I used to think it was sort of Lake Woebegon-ish in the country, with fairly clean and well managed urban areas. Apparently, they’re about half nuts behind that facade.

    Fun story.

Sunday, day before yesterday, I got verbally assaulted by a Truther. I had a friend in town, and we’d been out drinking Saturday night. Sunday morning, hungover, we went to Trio’s at 17th and Q NW for cheeseburgers. This woman who looks kind of like the Crazy Cat Lady comes waddling down the sidewalk, muttering to herself. I look at her, she sees my Yankees hat, and starts tearing into me. “New York, huh? Very nice. You guys blew up the twin towers and now our military is dying for FOREIGN OIL!” I didn’t catch much of whatever else she said, although I distinctly remember hearing “fucking New York prick” as she walked off. The whole patio was just kind of speechless. All my dumb, hungover ass could manage was a weak “I got this hat at a Foot Locker in Houston.”

    God, I love this town.

  23. BadKitty says at 11:42 am, July 28th, 2009

It’s a sorry state indeed when we Minnesotans are forced to lie and say we’re from Iowa (IOWA!) in order to avoid pity and derision. Won’t someone make her go away?

I blame the furreners. The 25% birthers and truthers are really economic refugees from the Dakotas. The original Oof Da Minnesotans are still above average and boring.

For some reason, I didn’t see this article about rampant racism in the NYFD hiring process covered by Faux Noise, Lou Doggs, Sheer “Hot Air” InSannity, Ole BlunderRush, Bull O’Really? or any other right wingnut gasbag:

These nicknames, and you, by association, are insufferably annoying. Please go back to Politico and comment here when you are less dense.

  30. Brendan M. says at 12:23 pm, July 28th, 2009

Rep. Peterson may be a Wonkett Hero, but he is still a massive douchebag. The Democrats would be better without him, because one vote in the House isn’t worth giving this misogynistic eco-terrorist a chairmanship.

Also, keep in mind that there is extensive overlap between the Birthers and the Truthers (Paultards).

  31. S.Luggo says at 12:29 pm, July 28th, 2009

Now that he’s said this in public, though, he’ll never be able to run for office again.

  35. LoweredPeninsula says at 6:47 am, July 29th, 2009

I’ve seen this comparison a few times trying to equate Truthers to Birthers. The Truthers, as lame as they are, are driven by pure conspiracy theory and conspiracy theory, only. The birthers are driven by conspiracy theory based in racism, xenophobia, and other assorted bigotries and driven by pure and unadulterated hate. The Truthers are much more akin to Moon Landing deniers, the Birthers, well, Holocaust deniers. That’s not to mention that mainstream movements denounced the Truthers from the beginning. It seems that it’s like pulling teeth even to get the guys up on the Hill to deny the Birthers.
