• PAT BUCHANAN URGES MORE RACISM AGAINST SOTOMAYOR: Former Nixon racism strategist Pat Buchanan does not understand why a few of these current Republican leaders continually reject the obvious political benefits of just being completely racist all the time: “Had McCain been willing to drape Jeremiah Wright around the neck of Barack Obama, as Lee Atwater draped Willie Horton around the neck of Michael Dukakis, the mainstream media might have howled. And McCain might be president.” [Human Events]

If there’s one thing the Republican party needs it’s more racism. They should try a platform of reinstating slavery. It might just work.

So…McCain should have lynched Obama with Rev. Wright?

Those white sheets aren’t going to wear themselves, republicans.

4. Extemporanus says at 2:55 pm, July 15th, 2009

Hanging a black man with a noose made out of a black man is the height of racist efficiency.

Atwater at least had the good grace to die after that. Buchanan will be like Byron de la Bockwith VII… RACIST IN THE YEAR 3000.

8. finallyhappy says at 2:58 pm, July 15th, 2009

Extemporanus: Comparing serious batshit moran Palin to Judge Sotomayor - absolutely. Judge Sotomayor was a brilliant student in college and law school as well as a noted jurist. Sarah Palin barely got a degree after 5 colleges and birthed 5 babies.

9. BobLoblawLawBlog says at 2:59 pm, July 15th, 2009

Hang-em-high Buchanan appears to have changed the “em” on that moniker from “the coloreds” to “his own party.” That’ll teach ‘em for making him run as an Independent *shudder*

10. WadISay says at 3:00 pm, July 15th, 2009

This sounds like a desparate plea from Pat Buchannon to be draped around someone’s neck.

11. Lazy Media says at 3:00 pm, July 15th, 2009

Buchanan ought to be more sensitive. It’s not like he’s a real American, either; he’s Irish Catholic! Hell, that’s barely human.

Newell’s greatest tag ever.

Maybe they should try a trick question on Sotomayor: “Ms. Sotomayor, could you please spell the words ‘Puerto Rican’ out loud, in English, for the committee.”

18. hobospacejunkie says at 3:10 pm, July 15th, 2009

I think Mr. Buchanan hasn’t been paying much attention to the republican party’s dealings outside Rev. Wright-world. I seem to remember a lot of Husseins being thrown around, a lot of not so subtle hints that Hussein is a terrorist, that Hussein wasn’t born in US America. In fact, Pat, your dumbass, taint-licking party has pretty much done everything but call Hussein a dirty, thieving n-word, which of course is precisely the reason for all the other attacks. They’re launched in lieu of the n-word, in easily breakable code. Republicans haven’t been using Enigma machines to communicate their racism, Pat. Maybe you should give up the soprano voice lessons and spend more time following your party.

19. SayItWithWookies says at 3:11 pm, July 15th, 2009

Adding just 1 percent to the white vote is thus the same as adding 10 percent to the candidate’s Hispanic vote.

So a white person is worth ten Hispanic people? And I guess Pat’s problem with the three-fifths compromise was that it was too generous.

20. Prommie says at 3:12 pm, July 15th, 2009

Pats a fair to middlin’ racist, he runs in the middle of the pack, but where he really shines is as an anti-semite. In fact, this return to racism, which during the ascendancy of the essentially semitic neocons, he had abandoned to specialize in anti-semitism, may mark an attempt on his part to return to the GOP fold. He was on the outs opposing the neocons, he was OK with W buying the fundies by giving them the Department of Justice, but ole Pat just couldn’t stomach W creating that strangest of all coalitions, fundie-jew (epitomized by Lieberman) by giving Defense, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, to Israel.

21. Mahousu says at 3:12 pm, July 15th, 2009

As Sotomayor would be a colorful personality in a bland liberal lineup of Ginsburg, Breyer and John Paul Stevens, she would stand out, like the co-ed-chasing “Wild Bill” Douglas in the 1960s and 1970s.

Oh, God. Buchanan has the hots for Sonia. Sorry, Pat, she may (perhaps) be a Puerto Rican firecracker, but I don’t think she’ll come chasing after you any time soon.

22. Todd Mecklem says at 3:12 pm, July 15th, 2009

That sounds like fun, Pat. You should always carry a few black men around to drape around people’s necks. Breaks the ice at parties!

Keep shouting, Unca Pat. Just in case there’s one brown person out there who didn’t get the message, let’s be clear: brown folks are not welcome in today’s Gee Oh Pee! And if you get uppity ideas beyond your station, like running for office or being a judge: looky at what’ll happen to ya.

26. One Yield Regular says at 3:16 pm, July 15th, 2009

“Howled,” Pat? “Howled”? “The mainstream media might have howled”?

Try this, Pat: I have seen the best conservative minds of your generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn, looking for an angry fix. Howl that, Patrick, as you and your fellow wingnut racists swirl down the drain to history’s sewers. (And pace Mr. Ginsberg for the unauthorized shout-out.)

33. totoro says at 3:37 pm, July 15th, 2009

Um, Pat, because preacher-draping was going to be Mutually Assured Destruction, given the ample footage of McCain’s own insane preacher and the lead candidate’s Kenyan witchdoctor exorcisms. What Pat needs to ask himself is why the Democrats were such pussys and failed to preemtively unleash the whole religious whack-job shit-hurricane of YouTube vids on them. Dems need to learn a little less forbearance for next go around because those dogs are going to be hungry after being chained up for 4 years.

34. McDuff says at 4:03 pm, July 15th, 2009

“Had McCain been willing to drape Jeremiah Wright around the neck of Barack Obama, as Lee Atwater draped Willie Horton around the neck of Michael Dukakis, ….”

Pat seems to forget that Lee Atwater later found Jesus (after Daddy God give Lee cancer) and came to greatly regret the Willie Horton thing.

35. Of course, Olbermann continues to ignore Old Pat’s rantings because his masters make him.

36. imissopus says at 4:23 pm, July 15th, 2009

Oh, Pat. Never change, you drunk racist mick, you.

37. Now that he mentions it, it is pretty weird how the mainstream media never took up the Jeremiah Wright thing last year. Wouldn’t you have thought it would have merited at least a mention on cable television?

38. Brendan M. says at 4:28 pm, July 15th, 2009

McDuff: I don’t think Buchanan cares. Even today he thinks we shouldn’t have been so quick to go to war with the Nazis who he alleges, when you think about it, weren’t all that bad.

39. The first murderous race riot in the United States took place in New York City during the Civil War, when mobs of Irish attacked black citizens. Boss Tweed and his gang of grifters robbing New York for years. Father Joseph Coughlin, with his pro-Nazi radio broadcasts in the 1930s. Joe kennedy, as Ambasador to the Court of St. James, got yanked back to the US in November of 1940 for his wild anti-English remarks. Senator Joe McCarthy in the 1950s. Pat Buchanan going to work for Nixon in the 60s, devising his return to power by exploiting white racism in the South. Reagan during the 80s. Now he have Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity on TV broadcasting bigoted nonsense. Obviously, there is only one solution. Send the Irish back to Ireland. They have been a pestilential curse upon this democracy from the first days they set foot in the United States. Will Wonkette stand up and say, loudly enough for the world to hear, “Irish need not apply?”

46. gjdodger says at 10:30 pm, July 15th, 2009

The continuing and shameful persecution of white males, long a stain of national dishonor, continues in Buch’s Altworld…

Since when did the Know-Nothings let the Irish in? When I was hanging with them in the 1840s and 50s this was their cry:

The Dutch, the Dutch
The dirty rotten Dutch
They don’t ammount to much
–But they’re a damn sight better than the I-i-i-rish
(boom,boom!)

[that last part there is two beats on a bass drum, not gun shots]

But we’re being hypocritical, remember how upset the Libs were when Scalia said, “You can’t fool an old Italian…” Or maybe it was “Quack!”, I forget…

Yes, Pat, meet Irony. Irony, Pat. Now, Pat, bend over; Irony wants to “know you” in the Biblical of that phrase? As a real American, I’m sure you respect the Bible, right?

53. LoweredPeninsula says at 2:27 am, July 16th, 2009

I never got how Irish and Italians and the like could come over here, some not even one generation off the boat, and be even more racist and xenophobic than the British founders. It’s Clayton Bisbyism; that’s what it is.

Pat “Mr. Potato Head” Buchanan is preachy to us Negrahs and other variously colored folks what is and isn’t American…again? What anguish this man must feel that he’ll never ever get to own and beat-in a real, honest-to-goodness African slave. Must the Libruhls take away all of the white man’s pleasures? Death to America!
