Black South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn responded by calling Sanford a racist for comparing Obama to an African country, to which Sanford’s spokesman shot back “Rep. Well, it’s perfectly reasonable. Everyone knows that when you give the darkies moneys, they blow it all on 40s and Newport lights. President Obama’s heart is in the right place, but he doesn’t understand. White people have had things handed to them for so long that they’re not used to working anymore. Yes, they’ll go through some hard times, but once those white people break the cycle of dependence and learn to stand on their own, they’ll see that it was worth the tough love.
