Bobby Rush is winning the Crazy Olympics hands down. And that’s quite a feat considering his competition.
Because “everyone” hates the Serbs and the Blacks (Hands) for igniting the powder keg that was 1914 Europe.
Bobby Rush appeared at Purdue University in 1969 or so, sporting his Black Panther black leather jacket and a lot of revolutionary attitude. Look what’s happened to him!

He went from chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party to black machine Democrat representing the first district in Illinois (essentially a gang controlled urban wilderness in Chicago with a few suburbs tacked on to it.

While state attorney general in 1992, Burris aggressively sought the death penalty for Rolando Cruz, who twice was convicted of raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl in the Chicago suburb of Naperville. The crime took place in 1983.
But by 1992, another man had confessed to the crime, and Burris’ own deputy attorney general was pleading with Burris to drop the case, then on appeal before the Illinois Supreme Court.
Burris refused. He was running for governor….
State prosecutors carried on with the prosecution, even after DNA evidence in 1995 excluded Cruz as the victim’s rapist and linked somebody else—sex offender Brian Dugan–to the crime.
Eventually, prosecutors’ case hit a wall. The Illinois Supreme Court reversed Cruz’s conviction and granted him a third trial. (The court declared that the trial judge in the case had improperly excluded Dugan’s confession, and thus compromised Cruz’s defense.) In the new trial, Cruz was acquitted.

Blago seems likely to be indicted and Roland Burris has never been my favorite politician, but these comments about Bobby Rush are perhaps misguided. His slow, slurred speech is the result of a cancer operation on his salivary gland, but his politics have never been slow or hard to understand. He’s also not stupid nor a Machine slouch — he happens to be the only person who ever beat Barack Obama in an election (2000 Dem primary, tantamount to a general election given the district, for IL 1st District seat in Congress). Rush is a longtime ABM, I admit (angry black man), but his political actions have been remarkable for their consistency before and after joining forces with the Daley Machine, which few can claim. Rush’s primary concern, according to the interview I saw, is that he wants to see Obama’s Senate seat go to an African American, because he feels, with justification, that blacks are underrepresented in the Senate (Obama was the only black senator). Rev. Rush is playing politics, to be sure, which required him to lay down with a dog, but his goal is unambiguous and not self-serving — pretty rare qualities in the Daley ranks.
