I bet this is the first Sarah is hearing of it.

  2. Cogito Ergo Bibo says at 7:26 pm, August 31st, 2008

Could someone please tell our possible second in command to take off those hooker earrings and button up? There’s a natural disaster going on, for Jeebus sake!

And her mother-in-law likes Obama. Just what did Nanook bring to the ticket, besides sexy trailer trash Alaskan controversy?

  4. Serolf Divad says at 7:35 pm, August 31st, 2008

God, I so wish I could be in the audience during the Vice Presidential debate and get picked to ask a question. I think it’d go something like this: “Mrs. Governess Palin. As you know, the Presidency places tremendous demands upon the office holder and requires a tremendous commitment of time and energy. That being said, if elected, will you pledge not to have any more babies while in office?”

  5. obfuscator says at 7:37 pm, August 31st, 2008

Maybe they’re those low-information voters we’re hearing so much about. I bet they’ll get on board with the ticket after they see Gov. Palin dancing with Ellen.

  6. The 3-Legged Man says at 7:38 pm, August 31st, 2008

A couple years ago Ted Stevens’ son, Ben, who, like his dad, has been under investigation (he was senate president in AK) called the people who live in Wasilla and Palmer (another hick town) “Valley Trash”. It was quite a hoot. The “Valley” is the Matanuska Valley, legendary for Matanuska Thunderfuck, once reputed to be the most potent pot grown in the U.S. If Palin never got high it’s only because she lived upwind of all the dopers.

  7. Palin Comparison says at 7:38 pm, August 31st, 2008

Cogito Ergo Bibo: Get used to it; it is all part of Rove’s Palin Plan. In olden days folks voted for the Prez candidate they wanted to have a beer with. This year they will vote based on which VP they most want to fuck!

And that is why Hopey couldn’t possibly pick Hillary as VP.

  8. Don’t let “W” know that Sarah-n-Wrap is mentioned in an article
that uses the words reach-around, he may still be in his drunken
post-olympic stupor and offer her Cheneys office early. Not that’s
    automatically a bad thing.

Speaking of post-olympic drunken stupor, there hasn’t been much
from or about the Shrub, is he being hidden away until all his scars
have healed? The external ones, that is.

  9. Is ‘Independent’ the new word for swinger?

  10. i’m beginning to suspect mccain of being suicidal.

or perhaps he’d prefer shuffleboard or jigsaw puzzles.

palin will not be a happy camper in dc. the …ummm.. glamour will wear off very quickly.

Thank God for Cindy Sassypants for pointing out that the Soviet Union is part of Alaska.

“Asked about Palin’s national security experience, Cindy McCain could not come up with anything beyond the fact that, after all, her state is right next to Russia. “You know, the experience that she comes from is, what she has done in government — and remember that Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia.”

Damn Sarah Plain’s wicked Inuit mother-in-law for not voting for John McCheney!!

“Meanwhile, Palin’s mother-in-law, Faye Palin, told a New York Daily News reporter that she didn’t agree with Sarah on everything and hadn’t yet decided how she would vote. She added: “I’m not sure what she brings to the ticket other than she’s a woman and a conservative. Well, she’s a better speaker than McCain,” Faye Palin said with a laugh.”

    This election will end well.

  13. StrangelyBrown says at 8:19 pm, August 31st, 2008

All right, without referencing “the smear” in so many words, could somebody take a look at this KTUU news story about the birth of Trig Palin and tell me if this doesn’t, at the very least sound like extremely dangerous and irresponsible behavior for a pregnant 44-year-old whose water just broke a month early?

    http://www.ktuu.com/global/story.asp?s=8194634

Also, I’ve seen premies before, and those pictures…

  14. wheelie says at 8:21 pm, August 31st, 2008

SkimLatteModerate: What election, anywhere in the world, doesn’t end well? Politics is a joy.

  15. Johnny Zhivago says at 8:29 pm, August 31st, 2008

    StrangelyBrown: Two things:

    - No doctor lets an 8 month pregnant woman travel, period.
    - Any doctor would send you to the nearest neo-natal ICU if your water started leaking, PERIOD.

I am told this by someone who knows. If anyone disputes this - please let us know.

  16. El Bombastico says at 8:29 pm, August 31st, 2008

Oscar Folsom Cleveland: Fuck it! I’m voting for FAYE Palin!

  17. Evan Capitol Hill Blue is on the Babygate story. C’mon Wonkette, you’re gonna get scooped by the National Enquirer again!

  18. DC Spring says at 8:36 pm, August 31st, 2008

jerryw: You could fire a gun down most of downtown DC streets and not hit anything in between what’s euphemistically called rush hour, in August. I try it regularly since the cops are all on vacation or in a 300 mile tailback on the Bay Bridge trying to get to the mythical Land of the Beach. Ok, so I’m into crossbow archery, but the principle is the same.

BTW Friday’s annulment of tolls on the Bay Bridge to get a million people to the mythical land is going to be compensated by every one of those tax dodging felons being done for toll plaza violations. It’s all on camera and only a matter of time before some genius in Annapolis scents revenue opportunity…

All politics is local. Pure gold.

    But Alaska the beautiful? PLATINUM!

  19. StrangelyBrown says at 8:49 pm, August 31st, 2008

stew: Capitol Hill Blue says this was all planned for effect? Wow, they must really like the X-Files. No one in their right mind would nominate a VP when they know she’ll have to pull out. Thomas Eagleton, anyone?

You know, shitty and Rovian as it sounds, I say Wonkette should run with this story, too. Palin herself opened the door to this kind of scrutiny by waving that baby around on day one as if he had “I’m Pro-Life — Vote McCain!” tattooed on his forehead. There should be a special circle in hell for people who exploit 4-month-old Downs babies for political purposes like this.

  20. DC Spring says at 8:53 pm, August 31st, 2008

stew: Fk, I’ve just seen the link. And my considered response is NO NO NO Stew, you’ve got the causality wrong. Capitol Hill Blue is reporting WONKETTE and the completely irresponsible ghastly to work with and no way you’re coming over for a cook-out rumormongers who have neither shame nor facts on this site but a colossal snarkapacity which we love and devote ourselves to. The conspiracist tactic meme was the post swarm in the early hours of Saturday morning, from whatever fractured memory remains. Fk I think I put something up on bait and switch to test the levels of insanity amongst the commenterers which was duly confirmed.

You cannot be scooped by something you started. Period.

Memes mutate. They are the essence of the law of unintended consequences. They ain’t journalismism.

  21. Itsjustme says at 9:15 pm, August 31st, 2008

“Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges”

    So will his teenage mother.

  22. Cogito Ergo Bibo: Umm, that is the whole plan. After years of Veep-in-hiding Cheney, mcCain will give us a Veep that gives off that “Hey, look at me, I’m available, easily… I mean readily available” look.

Cindy won’t have to worry about her hubby and an intern… but you KNOW she is goona keep an eye on cabinet meetings!

  23. Todd and Track Palin are both registered as undeclared. I guess the Nazi party was not an option on their voter applications. Luckily for her political career, Sarah was smart enough to accept the next best thing.

  24. hatlesshead says at 11:24 pm, August 31st, 2008

Cogito Ergo Bibo: If you didn’t know who these folks were, doesn’t McPain look like a serial rapist/murderer being led out in cuffs with Plain as Asst DA behind him? In some place like Mississippi?

  25. badco/LoJ says at 11:33 pm, August 31st, 2008

Wait, that baby was a month premature at 6 lbs 2 oz? Bullshit or something.

  26. hatlesshead says at 11:34 pm, August 31st, 2008

StrangelyBrown: No woman, particularly one who already has children, with any integrity would risk travelling in their last couple of months, especially if carrying a known special needs baby, leak or no leak. And by air? Imagine having to give birth on an airplane under those circumstances?

I find this more disgusting than her possibly passing off her grandchild as her own. At any rate, she is exploiting Trig (short for Trigger-the gun not the horse). McCrank obviously knows “nothing about birthin’ no babies” and neither does his fuckwad wife. Of course she is a cunt so why would he consult her.

  27. Mrs. Palin said she couldn’t comment on her family members being independents until someone explained to her exactly what the difference between the Republican and Democratic parties is…
