It was a rough weekend for famous black people.

    >>He (Hayes) recently completed work on the film “Soul Men,” with Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac.

Get to a hospital now, Jackson.

  3. This is the price we pay for making laughter a form of insensitivity and asking for image over substance in our musicians.
So long and many thanks to a soul legend and a master of comedic story-telling. You both will be sorely missed.

  4. Serolf Divad says at 9:15 am, August 11th, 2008

Actually, yuo may have missed it, but it was Obama’s fault that the Russians invaded Georgia.

  5. Larry Fine says at 9:16 am, August 11th, 2008

Maybe “The Man” is killing off all successful Afro-Americans. You know thats the word ont he street.

  6. Larry McAwful says at 9:25 am, August 11th, 2008

How many more countries can the Bush administration either leave in smoldering ruins or egg on to reduce themselves to smoldering ruins? They still have five months and a notion of executive privilege that isn’t constrained by the Constitution and other minor inconveniences.

  7. Larry Fine: I suspect Trey Parker is “The Man”.

  8. Johnny Zhivago says at 9:34 am, August 11th, 2008

Larry McAwful: I’d say plenty! All out war in - or even between - the Baltics, Caucuses and the Mid-East are definitely within reach. And don’t forget India/Pakistan and that China/Taiwan and North/South Korea.

    Just be patient!

No doubt Cheney is, even now, telling the CIA to look for the Iranian connection in Georgia.

Like father like son; just like the Iraqi Shia in ‘91.

Bush: Come on, Vladimir! You been lettin’ them pissant Georgians slap you around for too long! Your street cred’s at risk! Lissen–here’s what you do. You take a couple o’ tanks, a couple o’ bombers, you find a little place like–Dick, what’s the name o’ that place?–Ossetia? Anyway, you walk into Ossetia, you throw down, you make Georgia your BITCH!

Putin (through a translator): You think that would be prudent?

Bush: Prudent? FUCK THAT! Invade the place! Let ‘em hear your ball CLANK!

  12. Wow, Bush thinks that Russia may be looking for regime change in Georgia? Wonder where they could have gotten THAT idea.

  13. Larry McAwful says at 10:05 am, August 11th, 2008

Johnny Zhivago: Yeah, I know. But it’s so hard to be patient! I can see Bush reducing all of southern and eastern Asia to ruins, but what’s taking him so long? Plus, what are the odds that he’ll throw in a few surprises? Someplace we don’t expect to go up in flames in the near future, at least? Can we get a war going in Mozambique, maybe? Tunisia? Peru? Saskatchewan? Bring it on!

  14. Darehead says at 10:16 am, August 11th, 2008

Mr. Bush, in Beijing for the Olympics, strongly criticized the Russian attacks, and urged an immediate cease-fire. In an interview on NBC on Monday morning, he said he had been “very firm” with both Russia’s prime minister, Vladimir V. Putin, and its president, Dmitri Medvedev, arguing that if they insisted on war, they should at least move the fighting from South Ossetia to another place that he could pronunciate.

Putin and Medvedev thought about it, and said, “OK, W, we’ll move the fighting to GORI.”

  15. George still has a chance to start World War III before he leaves office. He’s not the American Caesar, he’s the American Nero. He should take up fiddling.

    Georgia, Georgia,
    Another day through
    Just a fucked border war
    Keeps Georgia on my mind

    I’m say Georgia
    Georgia
    A War for you
    Comes as bright and fast
As a nuke blast through the pines

Russian arms shoot lead at me
    Russian eyes so bloodthirsty
Still in fitful dreams I see
That war leads back to you

    I said Georgia,
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
    Just a fucked border war
    Keeps Georgia on my mind

Prez W reachs out to you
    Cheney’s eyes glint menacingly
Only in neocon dreams I see
A Nato Army heads to you

    Georgia,
    Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
    Just a fucked border war
    Keeps Georgia on my mind

I said just a fucked border war,
    Keeps Georgia on my mind

    TGY: Some people say:

    Cold War = WW III
War on Terror = WW IV (Bush already started…)

Ergo, Caspian War = WWV ?

I think he’s planning a massive, ostentatious (and meaningless) peace ceremony with Kim Jong Il to look like a peacenik for the future history books that Laura might pick up in the library.

  18. TGY:
Just keep him away from the matches.

  19. Fear of a Black Reagan says at 11:02 am, August 11th, 2008

So Bernie Mac tells a Sexism joke and pisses off Obama at a fundraiser. . . And then he DIES!?!?!?

Add one more to the Obama deathcount.

  20. Hasn’t Bush always been “very firm” for Pooty-Poo? Ever since he saw the lust deep in the man’s eyes?

  21. V572625694 says at 11:38 am, August 11th, 2008

Larry McAwful: Venezuela seems like the best target: oil-rich, headed by a guy who tells Chimpy to fuck off. What else do we need? Oh I know: an indigenous population that will fight like hell to humiliate us. The Vietnam trifecta! Except for the oil.

  22. donner_froh says at 12:47 pm, August 11th, 2008

You would think that someone would have noticed that the Russian response to difficulties with former satrapies to the south has always been the same–blow them up with as much conventional firepower as can be deployed. Afghanistan in 1980…Chechnya 1991…Georgia itself in 1924…nah, it will be different this time, Putin is at the Olympics so he won’t hear about it.

  23. donner_froh says at 12:50 pm, August 11th, 2008

Barack Obama wants to text you his Veep choice!

Kwame Kilpatrick wants to sexy text you some hot Motown mayoral love.

Sad to see Isaac Hayes die. May his thetans stay free of Xenu.

  25. Fear of a Black Reagan: re: “OBAMA DEATH COUNT”

Why is it that after a decade or so of Limbaugh casting aspersions of murder towards their darling Clintons, that the PUMA hotflash set have all become little hateful Limbaughs?

What really differentiates them from conservatives at this point? They’ve abandoned all of the things that make them progressive to “spite” Obama.
