AP’s NEW D.C. CHIEF HEARTS KARL ROVE: That newish Associated Press Washington bureau chief, Ron Fournier, is making AP copy all dumb and bloggy. Also, he e-mailed this to Karl Rove about Pat Tillman, the anti-Iraq War hero who was slaughtered by his own troops in Afghanistan: “The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries allow them to flourish. Keep up the fight.” [Gawker/TPM Muckraker]

“The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world…”
He said this about Pat Tillman, the atheist?
I suppose he wrote this before we found out he was shot in the head three times at close range by his comrades? What did he have to say about that?!

I mean, look at us miscreants that troll Wonkette. He’s got a point.

“The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries can so wantonly misuse their desire to serve and then so vigorously try to sweep the evidence under the rug.”

if find the quote reads better if you assume he’s referring to the comrades who shot tillman.

“”The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries allow them to flourish. ”

Too bad Tillman didn’t live in one of those free countries. Neo-cons may have killed him for campaigning against them, or they just may have substituted the Hero story for the Fraging story.

    Karl Rove, the Hague ‘10!

“i find” not “if find”, dagnabbit!

Great. AP’s become fucking FOX News.

  8. SayItWithWookies says at 2:16 am, July 15th, 2008

“The authors of the new report carefully avoided assigning blame or intent in either the Tillman or Lynch cases.”
Of course. You’d have to be pretty damn careful if you wanted to avoid assigning blame in either of these cases.

  9. villageatrois says at 2:21 am, July 15th, 2008

Destonio: All news has become FOX News on the Teevees. Otherwise, we wouldn’t need to read Wonkette and some (top secret) web-sites.

    And then he kills them.

Just one more thing Turdblossom should have to testify about - but won’t.

    Oh Fuck This.
I know you all are 20 somethings without jobs, but doesn’t this make you want to grab a hatchet and start chopping?

Ron Fournier, media coordinator of the Pat Tillman killing and coverup, is sooooo gonna regret taking a highly visible position in the capital city. Lotsa Veterans there.

  14. As the AP, so goes Miss USA’s ass and hence the nation. It’s like something invented by Rube Goldberg.

  15. ManchuCandidate says at 7:49 am, July 15th, 2008

I wonder if Ron Fournier has a “secret” black baby stashed away somewheres. Either that or he and Karl know each other biblically.

  16. Delicious says at 7:58 am, July 15th, 2008

Fournier rode Bill Clinton’s ass from Arkansas to Washington. Still, I think this e-mail is Fournier trying to BS Rove for source points. But, wow, he sounds like a real tool in this one.

  17. Monsieur Grumpe says at 8:26 am, July 15th, 2008

I’d like to put Pat Tillman’s mother and Rove in the same room for awhile and see who comes out in one piece. Her book (Boots on the Ground by Dusk)is not very kind to the Bush administration.

Holy shit. When I worked for the AP we had to sign a formal renunciation of all our opinions on everything including whether it was a nice day or not. Fournier actually said that? Let’s see if management has any balls left.

    fwiw, gaydar registering pink.

  23. 4tehlulz says at 10:44 am, July 15th, 2008

    >>Let’s see if management has any balls left.

I’m sure they do; the problem is that they’re Karl Rove’s and the balls are currently residing in AP’s wide open mouth.

Um, I think we’re all being Punk’d … that’s former Daily Show humorist Rob Coddrey in that picture, right?

This must be a piece from The Onion.

villageatrois: You seddit, trois. I’m about ready to cancel my sub to the Wash Post, because I get much better info from the Internet. This is an example of what the Post won’t consider newsworthy. Last week they had nothing about Bush embarrassing the G-8 with his “Goodbye from the World’s Worst Polluter!” joke.

But every time Bob Woodward belches forth another suck-up book, the Post gives us a 5-part front-page series about it.
