...as if anyone needed any confirmation of this; but it is official that Hillary is now courting the Republican vote. Since when has a pro-gun stance been taken in a Democratic primary? Most Dems either align themselves with gun control or stay away from the subject all together. On one hand, it *could* be what everyone thinks it is: a hamfisted attempt at nasty subliminal messaging along the lines of "the boy will get what's coming to him," except executed with a lack of knowledge or understanding of rifles, which makes the whole thing a megaFAIL. But on the other hand, if you look at the message - "Obama will take all your guns and melt them down to make basketball hoops" - and then look at the rifle poiting to him, and then look at what sort of a rifle it is, it sort of builds into a different narrative:

"Obama the anti-gun elitist and don't believe him if he tells you otherwise. If he had actually owned a gun, it'd be this fancy-ass piece of unAmerican work, custome-made for him, because he's left-handed; however, since he's so clueless about guns in general, he'd probably manage to shoot himself in the head with it."

Happiness Is A Warm Nonexistent Left-Handed, Double-Set Trigger Model Of A $2,200 German Import Mauser 66 Gun

I figured this was probably the first image that came up when you search istockphoto.com for "rifle," but I couldn't find it after searching 2600 photos tagged "Mauser." So at least they maybe actually hired a photographer, or used *real* stock (no pun intended) photography. Or maybe they jacked it from flickr. Now I gotta go search there.

I think they intentionally included a picture of Obama smiling like a pencil necked geek maniac in that picture to make him look bad...with the gun pointing in his direction. Then again he is kind of a pencil necked geek maniac.

@Dr. Spaceman: It has two triggers because it is a fine target rifle with a hair trigger. One trigger "set's" the hair trigger so as to let it release with only an ounce or so of finger pressure. The rifle depicted would be an expensive rifle for sportsmen, no gangsta piece this. And by the way the german ww1 & ww2 military rifle was the G98, not this rifle at all.

They decided it was just too much work for them and started waving everybody in. The Dallas police raised a stink over it. @Dr. Spaceman: That's a "set trigger," used on fancy-pants target rifles. The first trigger activates the second, hair trigger, which then goes off when you barely touch it. It would be too likely to go off by itself if you didn't have the first trigger as a safety.

The less pressure you have to put on the trigger, the less it changes your point of aim. It's an old idea; some flintlock Kentucky rifles had set triggers.
