Let's do a little comparo here. France's leader is an immigrant's son, a self-made man who clawed his way up ranks in a country whose political class is openly hostile towards outsiders. And he has a supermodel wife who charms the pants off everyone she meets (even the British).

Here in the US, our Craptacular Overlord is a fake cowboy whose blue-blooded family connections allowed him to fail upwards until one day he woke up in the White House having no idea how he got there or what to do next. And his sour-faced wife is a pill-popping manslaughterer.

Tunisia is a secular republic, probably the most secularised of all the North African States. Headscarfs are illegal in colleges and the civil service, and the government is actually freaking out about a recent resurgence in hijab-doffing. She put on the veil to go into a mosque, which is SOP.
