A couple weeks ago, an American citizen who happens to practice the Islamic faith attended a Romney fundraiser and asked the Mittster “whether he would consider including qualified Americans of the Islamic faith in his cabinet as advisers on national security matters.” Oh, hell, is anyone even going to be surprised at what Mitt said?

Romney basically admitted that Presidents engage in some tokenism, but then said he wasn’t sure there were enough Muslims to qualify for their own token Cabinet Member, saying “…based on the numbers of American Muslims [as a percentage] in our population, I cannot see that a cabinet position would be justified.”

He then followed that up by telling CNN that engaging in tokenism is not a good way to fill Cabinet positions anyway even if there were enough Muslims in America to “justify” giving them a Cabinet seat, and that he totally has black friends.
