You almost feel sorry for Rudy when he’s trying to explain his less-than-palatable libtard history to the Republican base. And then you remember that he’s Dick Cheney on a higher dosage of vengeance pills. And while he can’t shake away questions about his support for the rampant annihilation of fetuses or his nurturing of the taco taco Mexicans in NYC, the explanation he offers for his McGovern vote in ‘72 should keep the naysayers at bay: I voted for McGovern, but I wanted to vote for Nixon. In a new interview with the Weekly Standard, Rudy explains that he only voted for the super-libs George McGovern because he remembers misunderstanding a missive since misremembered, or something:
“I had traditionally been a Democrat,” Giuliani told me in a recent interview in Las Vegas. “It was almost like a reflex mode. I actually remember saying to myself, ‘If I was a person really deciding who should be president right now, I’d probably vote for Nixon, because I think the country would be safer with Nixon.’”
And there it is: Rudy voted for George McGovern in 1972 because he didn’t give a shit about what he was doing. Anyway, 9/11kthxbye.
